Well, Win Gui becomes a little bit laggy, not much when running the app.
----------------------------------------Gui lag on the slower 6670 is about twice the lag on my 5850. App doesn't work on my ATI 4850, I guess it is because card is only OpenCl 1.1 I have done a couple of hundred tasks and have like 500more in cue to complete. All tasks will be done within 4,3 days. Hmm, maybe my mistake writing here... It was some time ago I tried running Betas here at WCG I do run ati_hcc1 and maybe it is in production now... I have difficulties in reading the WCG site/stats/forum since it isn't like any other of the 70 available boinc projects sites..... My bad, sorry. Interesting.... Are you getting betas with that Yes, I did get betas with that app_config. In Device Manager, I set my profile to ask for only DDDT2 and C4CW, and I temporarily unchecked "if there is no work available, send work from other projects." Once I had betas for all the cores, I changed the profile back to the sciences I currently am running on CPU and checked the "if there is no work..." so that I would resume gettin HCC GPU. (I'm not currently running HCC on CPU.) It seems that app_configs can be used only with BOINC 7.0.42 or later. That's the only disadvantage I can think of app_config vs app_info. Kate, did you have the beta code added to you app_config file before you received any betas or did you add it after you got some. I have betas added to my app-config file but I see this message in the event log when starting boinc. World Community Grid | app beta not found in app_config.xml

I have had "beta" in app_config before I received beta works and I am still receiving the same message.
----------------------------------------Yesterday I checked client_state file and found out, that the recent beta's name was "beta12". So I kept "beta" in app_config and added "beta12", "beta13" and "beta14" (for check purposes - in case my logic is correct, next beta work could be "beta13"). Now I am receiving messages saying app beta not found in app_config.xml app beta13 not found in app_config.xml app beta14 not found in app_config.xml Cheers Crunching@Home since January 13 2000. It depends on the application being beta tested. beta = faah beta3 = hcc1 beta5 = hpf2 beta7 = hfcc beta8 = hcmd2 beta10 = dddt2 beta11 = cep2 beta12 = c4cw beta13 = dsfl beta14 = sn2s beta15 = gfam Our next logical guess at the next beta for a new project would be beta17 as beta16 = cfsw. But again, i don't promise anything because things always change :) Thanks, -Uplinger |

app_config.xml does *not* require anything to be specified unless:
----------------------------------------1) You want to run less instances than there are CPU processors identified and allowed for BOINC (who wants to do that for Beta ;O) 2) You want to run more instances on a single GPU card than default, which is 1. (Someone drumrolled and claimed it was 2, can't though remember a mention of there being 2 cards or just 1) Test versions of 7.0.43 and 7.0.44 are out for Windows and Mac, not seeing a Linux build yet. edit: spell and as noted below, 7.0.43 superseded [it will remain on the download archive]. World Community Grid | app beta not found in app_config.xml Sorry I didn't check back to this thread until now. I had added the beta code to my app_config before receiving betas. I get the app beta not found in app_config.xml and app dddt2 not found in app_config.xml messages, too. I don't know what they are supposed to mean, as those listings ARE in the app_config but there are no WUs coming for them. Sekerob's clarification is helpful, as always. |
