My experience with these WUs can be summed up very simply (but not necessarily in good English): glitchless.

Thank you again for all the input from the results that members have noticed. We will do some more analysis from our end. But in the past if a target went through beta like this, it is good for production.
Since it is the holiday, I would imagine that nothing will be seen until after the new year. BTW, Happy early New Years! Thanks, -Uplinger |

Happy New Year to you, too, uplinger!
----------------------------------------What exactly was being tested in this beta? I didn't really know how to interpret this sentence in your announcement of the beta test: "This will just be a test on the work units themselves and not the science application." |

What exactly was being tested in this beta? I didn't really know how to interpret this sentence in your announcement of the beta test: "This will just be a test on the work units themselves and not the science application." (Emphasis by andzgrid) I thought I'm alone with that question. Much as I would like to think that I already made the case for the need to declare specific objectives of any beta test, there are perhaps cases where it is better to not declare those objectives. Mindful of that, however, I'm not sure if not declaring the objectives of this beta test qualifies for an exception. I continue to be an advocate of the practice of explicit declaration, nonetheless. Thus, rather than silence, I expected something like -- 'There are no specific objectives that we aim for in this test. We kind of like in a position where we are not sure about what exactly we are looking for or what to aim for directly or indirectly. We are hoping that this test would help us clarify the picture' -- which I think would have been better.Happy New Year 2013 to all ! ; ; andzgridPost#774 ; |

When launching a new target it is common to run a small beta test to assure that the work units have been properly constructed. Often entire batches have errored out due to some minor issue in their generation. The beta test ensures that there will not be years and years of runtime wasted due to improper work units, hence testing the work units rather than the science.

kateiacy and andzgrid,
The response from KWSN - A Shrubbery is correct. Since this is a new target, there are major files that get sent with every work unit. In this case there are 2 major files and we are making sure that they do not cause errors and the output is what we expect to see. Thanks, Uplinger |
