Hello!
At every WU I've noticed GPU computing pausing for about 20 seconds each at 49,707%, 50,000% and 99,707%. Thus it takes over 3 minutes to finish a WU instead of 2 minutes. ATI Radeon 7850, Ivy Bridge, latest drivers, x64 version of BOINC (although I only get x32 WU) Did anyone encounter a similar behaviour? Bye, Oliver |

This is "standard" behavior for HCC, both CPU and GPU, the same as there always has been, but previously when there was only one image in the task only at 99.818%. Now there are two images, so there is the "completion" pause in the middle and at end now. But, what you're saying is, where before on 1 image tasks it took 2 minutes, with 2 images it is taking 3 minutes, that's 100% more work in half the additional time... pretty good. :D

There is a CPU and and GPU part. There will be a pasuse at startup and another pause at all the times you noted. That is when the CPU is doing its' part of the calculations. Perfectly normal.

I see, thanks for the quick reply!
Didn't notice the pause at startup, but justed checked it with the task manager, these are indeed "CPU times". Just for reference: A pure CPU WU takes about 80 minutes. Bye, Oliver |

WoW !! 80 minutes.
----------------------------------------That is less than one and half hours. Using a 4.2 GHz 980X under Win7 I do 2 hours or 120 minutes in average. If you are under Linux it is indeed faster than Win7 by 15-20%. I wonder what kind of CPU do you use and at what frequency. ![]() |

FAIK, there's opposed to Windows a 64 bit app of HCC for Linux, and Linux. Same as with VINA, the 64 bit run 60-70% faster than the 64 bit on Windows, which on fractionally runs faster than the 32 bit on Windows, or say it differently, 64 bit on Linux gains a lot over 32 bit, when on Windows 4-8%. My old dongle Q6600 needs an average of 2.7 hours but that's at 2.4Ghz under, Ubu-64.

I wonder what kind of CPU do you use and at what frequency. I'm using an Intel Ivy Bridge 3570K at 4.2 GHz. |

I have same problems with pause. IP7(960)-3.6 OC Ghz+7970 do one task (hel conc cancer ati) at 4 min. 18sec. and have this long pauses.
IP5(2500K) - 4 OC ghz+7970 = 2m. 14s. have fast pauses IP5(2320) - 3.5 OC ghz+7970 = 2m. 40s. have fast pauses WTF? |

Grigory, have you read whole thread? It is not a problem, it is how HCC ATI application works.
----------------------------------------4m18s looks quite long for 7970 + 960, but as you have not stated any further info about your comps... Cheers. ![]() Crunching@Home since January 13 2000. Shrubbing@Home since January 5 2006 ![]() |
