Re: Massacre!

What my daughter posted on Facebook earlier today...

Heaven has a new supply of angels after yesterday's elementary school massacre. Having difficulty grasping the depth of loss from this horrific massacre of young innocent lives. Hugging my loved ones a bit tighter and saying "I love you" at every moment today.

Re: Massacre!

It was the worst U.S. massacre since the 2007 rampage at Virginia Polytechnic Institute.
The second-worst mass shooting in U.S. history.

Along with six adults, twelve little girls and eight little boys never had a chance.

Kaitlin Roig, a first-grade teacher, told her students, "There are bad guys out there now. We have to wait for the good guys.”
She told the children she loved them, in case those were the last words they heard.
The heartbreaking news affected me deeply.

Re: Massacre!

.....and if you had sensible gun control it would probably not have happened. Publish full graphic pictures of these poor mites, all of which were shot SEVERAL times, and then ask the NRA how they can support an out of date clause! sad

Re: Massacre!

Just to be clear, all of the damage was done with a long rifle and I believe that these are legal even in W. European countries for the purpose of hunting. Granted, the particular type was one which looks much like an assault rifle but is in fact not much different from any number of other semi-auto long rifles.

Beyond that, all of the guns possessed by the killer were owned by his mother who owned them legally in a state, Connecticut, which has some of the most stringent gun laws in the US. From what I heard, they are very similar to the laws we have here in NJ.

Finally, as has been pointed out ad nauseum after each such tragedy, sick people who wish to take innocent lives will always find a means to do so.

No they are not in UK. Only persons such as gamekeepers or pest controllers would be permitted to possess a rifle. The general public stand little chance of being able to own one. Target shooting is about the only other means of owning a rifle, and then it usually has to be kept at the rifle Club, not at home. I live in a town of about 10,000 and would expect that there would be only about 5 or even less legally held rifles in the area. Naturally there will be some illegally held pistols, but you will never stop that anywhere.

Re: Massacre!

sick pep will always find there means. if the very strickest gun laws were in place then it could of been a kittchen knife or a vehicle or even a bomb. Laws do not stop the killings..period. pep do the killings not the item of choice.

Re: Massacre!

...by the time you have killed 27 people with a knife, someone has bashed you over the head with a chair, you cannot keep an angry mob at bay with a knife, you can with a gun!

Re: Massacre!

the point i was attempting to make is you can not outlaw everything or you will loose your freedom of choice. Which america stands proudly behind. The sic need to be identified and contolled before such terror begins(locked up in institutions if neccessary)
