I have installed BOINC on a R4W OS.(Replacement for Windows)
----------------------------------------However, it does not see my GPU. I click the appropriate option in the Preference. I've created a cc_config.xml file to show my two GPUs. I adjusted the password file. So what have i missed. Why am I not seeing the GPUs crunching? The eight Tasks are crunching away, but I want my GPUs working as well. Please help. Hi Gandalf_PCHF,
Can R4W really run on top of Linux GPU device drivers? Surely it cannot work with Windows GPU device drivers! Where on the Web is there information about R4W? Ordinarily I would just assume that using Linux GPU drivers would mean using Linux BOINC and Linux project code in order to use a GPU running on Linux drivers. Before I even consider R4W running Windows GPU projects, I would want to see some statements in the manual that say it is possible. Lawrence |

I am trying to find just that out myself.
----------------------------------------I can't find any mention to a R4W Forum on the internet. The site I purchased the install DVD from listed support for the product. I've queried them about that. We shall see. I was hoping this site might have some knowledge along those lines. The BOINC software is running 8 tasks, it's just not running the GPU tasks. ![]() ![]() O/S -LinuxMint 64-bit, Release 13 (maya). DE: Cinnamon |

Fair enough! I wish you good luck, but just running CPU projects is useful! Lawrence |

You made me search for this
---------------------------------------- Replacement for Windows (also known as R4W) is designed to be a drop-in replacement for Microsoft Windows 98-XP era computers. ??? http://on-disk.com/product_info.php/products_id/1412 for those interested. If you need the functionality for a home computer and want to break away from windows you might like to take a look at Zorin as a first foray into linux. http://zorin-os.com/ ![]() [Edit 1 times, last edit by OldChap at Jan 6, 2013 3:19:00 PM] |

Gandalf, if you edit into your above post what exact OS, we will be a little the wiser.
----------------------------------------Thx, and Crunch On. (edit, had not realized you had your problem(s) going in 3 threads, now seeing you mention LinuxMint) edit: 4 threads? That's considered spammy on some forums and gets you finger caned ;o) [Edit 2 times, last edit by Former Member at Jan 14, 2013 2:43:12 PM] |
