How do you code app-info for 2 GPU's?

I have a 2600k with a 7950. I added a 7870. After I added the drivers for the 7870 it seems to be crunching only with that gpu.

How do I code the app_info to use both gpu's?

Here is my log file excluding the upload/dl stuff

Re: How do you code app-info for 2 GPU's?

Note: It seems that the same AMD drivers are used for both cards and I don't see any obvious way in catalyst to activate both cards. Do I need to set them up in crossfire mode? Is that possible with 2 cards that aren't from the same series?

I have 7950 cards in other rigs so I can swap this 7870 out and put another 7950 in to crossfire with the existing one and put the 7870 as a solo card in the machine I take the 7950 from.

Re: How do you code app-info for 2 GPU's?

<use_all_gpus>1</use_all_gpus>
It needs to go in cc_config.xml, in the main data directory, not the project directory where the app_info.xml goes.

Here's an example of how the contents of the file should look:
<?xml version="1.0"?>
<cc_config>
<options>
<use_all_gpus>1</use_all_gpus>
</options>
</cc_config>

Re: How do you code app-info for 2 GPU's?

I don't see a cc_config file anywhere in either boinc directory or sub directory. Here is my log output now with 2 crossfired 7950's and the same app info - just changed the count to .125. It runs 9 threads regardless of what the count is though.

Re: How do you code app-info for 2 GPU's?

Hi twilyth,
It should be C:\\ProgramData\BOINC\cc_config.xml. It sounds as though you are trying to run Windows unmodified out of the box. Windows is sold with hidden files and directories. I am allergic to this. As soon as I get a new copy of Windows, I tell it to always show file extensions instead of hiding them and always show hidden directories and files. I leave Read Only alone, unless I need it off for a particular file.

By default, C:\\ProgramData is a hidden directory. Or at least, I seem to recall that it comes hidden.

Re: How do you code app-info for 2 GPU's?

Thanks. I do have hidden and system files exposed in Windows explorer. I also found the setting to tell it to search for hidden files in system diretories (finally). It doesn't seem to be on any of my machines since this is the second one I've checked.

I even opened a dos window and did dir /ah c*.xml and didn't find it.

edit, also issued the following command for the entire c drive and got no hits.

dir /s /ah cc_config.xml>cc.txt

Not quite in my case. I did find the cc_config.xml file in the C->ProgramFiles (x86)->BOINC
I am using Win7 64 bit. This directory is not hidden.

Re: How do you code app-info for 2 GPU's?

It may be there, but BOINC will be ignoring it FAIK. Once upon a time when the data dir was still an integrated whole of the program folder it used to be there together with all the other control files such as client_state.xml. When the data_dir was moved, few remained in the program [client] folder.

edit: If you have a 64bit client, then for Windows Vista/7/8 the client would be in *:\Program Files\BOINC.

Re: How do you code app-info for 2 GPU's?

OK, but how would it escape a dir /s /ah command run on the entire c drive?

edit: that command will recurse through every subdirectory out to the dos limit of I think 256 characters and will search for all files with the hidden attribute.
