My system configuration is:
Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-2670QM CPU @ 2.20GHz Memory (RAM) 12.0 GB Graphics NVIDIA GeForce GT 555M Gaming graphics 8940 MB Total available graphics memory Primary hard disk 616GB Free (679GB Total) Windows 7 Home Premium System -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Manufacturer Dell Inc. Model Dell System XPS L702X Total amount of system memory 12.0 GB RAM System type 64-bit operating system Number of processor cores 4 Storage -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Total size of hard disk(s) 1378 GB Disk partition (C:) 616 GB Free (679 GB Total) Disk partition (D:) 697 GB Free (699 GB Total) Media drive (E:) CD/DVD Graphics -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Display adapter type NVIDIA GeForce GT 555M Total available graphics memory 8940 MB Dedicated graphics memory 3072 MB Dedicated system memory 0 MB Shared system memory 5868 MB Display adapter driver version 9.18.13.697 Primary monitor resolution 1280x720 DirectX version DirectX 10 I am running 7 HCC wu on the CPU and 1wu on the GPU. Computer operation is choppy but bearable. When it comes to online videos, I suspend the GPU operation to make viewing the video smooth. In light of the fact that this research could benefit humanity and maybe even me one day, I can live with this inconvenience. Clive Hunt |

Windows runs very laggy, no problem when running GPUGRID for that matter.

I may have mentioned this already. If not, this is a really primitive sort of 'knives and bear skins' method, but it does actually seem to work.
----------------------------------------If you starve the wu's for memory, they go into a wait mode. On my 1090t with one 7950, I have 16 gig of ddr3 (6 cores, 6 threads). I set the available memory when active to 2.5 or maybe 3%. That usually keeps 3 or 4 of the 7 tasks waiting while I'm on the computer. I also set the inactivity period to 1 minute so that if I dawdle, it fires right back up. [Edit 1 times, last edit by twilyth at Dec 25, 2012 6:29:01 PM] |
