(SOLVED) Scheduler request failed: HTTP internal server error

Running version 6.0.58 because none of the newer ones will run on my box under Debian. By that I mean Debian Squeeze, testing and Sid.

Have not, until today, tried 7.0.28 or 7.0.31. They not only will not run they will not even open.

Boinc is installed in user land in my /home/<user name> directory.

Have been running Boinc there fine since 09.

Did not try the version available any of the repos on the three installs I attempted to run it on today as I have tried that in the past few months and it will not run.

Have had the problems you are aware of with cfcw and the server problems you are having today.

Have recieved, however, some WU's earlier today.

I do not keep a lot of packages on (.30 days worth). Have 18 to report and one finishing.

Saw 2 other recent threads where folks had this problem. Tried the things that seem to fit with a Linux 64bit version rather than the MS versions that they are using.

Resetting does not work.

I believe that the problems I have with newer versions may have to do with my video card a Radeon HD 2400 PRO which I do plan on replacing.

Is there anything I need to post to give better info to straighten this out?

Is there anything I need to give a whack at to resolve this?

First: Debian is fine for running boinc up to 6.12.34. You may need to install some additional libraries like libcurl3. What libs are missing
can be found by running the ldd command with the complete path to the boinc binary. Newer boinc versions will be more problematic
because the want libraries that are not in Debian. 7.0.28 will not run even with testing.

Second: the 2400 HD cannot do anything because the WCG does not support GPU computing on linux at the moment.

Third: if you are running a 64 bit linux you may need to install some 32 bit compatibility libs because some project binaries are 32 bit only. You may need:
lib32gcc1
lib32z1
libc6-i386
lib32stdc++6
With this you should be able to crunch all WCG projects.

Re: Scheduler request failed: HTTP internal server error

I have the error messages same as the title of this topic, only one of my machines.

Machine 1 (Error) :
Intel Core i7-3770
Windows 7 64bit SP1
Boinc 6.12.34

2012/08/27 9:12:32 | World Community Grid | Fetching scheduler list
2012/08/27 9:12:35 | World Community Grid | Master file download succeeded
2012/08/27 9:12:40 | World Community Grid | Sending scheduler request: To fetch work.
2012/08/27 9:12:40 | World Community Grid | Reporting 371 completed tasks, requesting new tasks for CPU
2012/08/27 9:12:49 | World Community Grid | Scheduler request failed: HTTP internal server error

Machie 2 (Success) :
Intel Core i3-380M
Windows 7 64bit SP1
Boinc 6.12.34

2012/08/27 6:03:26 | World Community Grid | Sending scheduler request: To fetch work.
2012/08/27 6:03:26 | World Community Grid | Reporting 14 completed tasks, requesting new tasks for CPU
2012/08/27 6:03:31 | World Community Grid | Scheduler request completed: got 1 new tasks

2012/08/27 6:03:38 | World Community Grid | Finished download of 019fafa5ffad406f54c6bfceb74f714f.zip

The timestamp of the log is JST (UTC+9).

Is this because the number of reporting tasks(371) is too large? confused

Thanks.

Thank you for your reply. It explains a lot of things I have wondered about.

I have been using only 64bit versions from the time I started with Boinc. I do have the multi-arch support I need.

Right now I need to explain my delay in answering. I decided to try the version in the repo of Sid. There is a problem with the fglrx-driver package (ATI non free driver) and the new version of xorg and all its related packages packages. Upgrading removes the driver.

In Sid this is fine on here as the foss drivers actually work better with this card than the non free driver.

I really do think this is a good bit of the problem I am having.

The repo version is the same for testing and Sid. Tried it on both before the xorg upgrade came along. Wouldn't open in testing and would not show or run tasks in Sid although it would open.

It is version 7.0.27. It runs fine in Sid. Have it running now.

Sid is my backup install for testing which I use as my production OS. I know this may sound crazy but many people prefer Sid to testing because bugs are fixed faster than they are in testing. You get a lot less bugs in testing which is why I prefer it.

Decided to upgrade the x stack in testing so I could run this there. That was a mistake as it is now not working. "No screens detected" by the x stack. Will have to chase that down or revert to the older version of x and reinstall the driver.

There is no hurry about that as the 2 installs share a common /home and the users are members of each others group.

I don't, by the way, have any interest in gpu processing of WUs.

This problem seems to me to be the crappy card itself just not dealing at all with displaying Boinc correctly.

Have used it with boinc minimized and if wanting to see what is happening holding down the down button so that it redraws the page. That or keeping the cursor in motion.

I have tried every version since 6.10.58 and non of them would work. Have had to run the non free driver from sometime (can't remember) back when Squeeze was testing.

From your post I can see why the version is 7.0.27 instead of 28.

Now that the foss drivers work this bugger is actually working great. No need to hold down the arrow button or anything.

I am very happy. Used to run the boinc testing version. Will be giving that a try soon here on Sid or testing if I can get it to work with the foss driver.

Am also going to be keeping the list of depends that you supplied. Could come in very handy in the future although it was not a problem this time.

Will have to see if I can transfer the WUs to this install and get them reported. Works if you are installed in userland but will have to hunt up the files with this "correct" style of install.

Pretty happy because it is only about 1/2 day of work but I would hate to loose that.

Will have to see if I can edit the subject line to read "(Solved)" so that all these folks with problems under MS are not being confused and anyone with this problem under Linux may get a clue as to how to get it fixed.

Thanks again. Really got me thinking straight(er) if nothing else. I sure needed that.

Grumpy geezers tend to need that on occasion.

If I were you I would start a new thread or latch on to this post maybe;
http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread_thread,33630_offset,0

The last post I read there is the first on the second page and it may be of help to you;
http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/...hread=33630&offset=20

Folks that read the first post of this thread will see that it is about a Linux version and most will get no further than that.

This is my fault, I should have put that in the subject line. Sorry.

Hope you get yours straightened out. Seems like a lot of it going around.
