Invalid results, but only on two projects
I have my one, older, slower computer set to run any project that comes up so it randomly gets assigned from all the projects except the Clean Energy Project. For some reason two of those projects, Leishmaniasis and Schistosoma always end up with "Invalid" results. All the other projects usually get valid results that match whatever other systems come up with. I have looked at these forums but haven't found anyone else who posted a similar problem. Does anyone have any ideas what might be wrong?

Hello zcommodore,
DSFL, SN2S and GOFAM all run on a program named VINA from the Scripps Research Institute. So that is a connection between DSFL and SN2S. If you will post the first page of your Messages Tab in BOINC Manager, that will tell us more about your older computer. Also, if you go to the Results Status page and click on an invalid result, the popup windows give a great deal of information that we would like to see.

Since there are no complaints of freezing, my line of thinking goes towards security software interference. Same as CEP2 [which is not being run on the device], VINA is a science app split in worker and controller. Scan exceptions to the BOINC data dir, if not already in place, might be worth a try.

As per Lawrence, the Result Log messages and comparison of own with wingman [links in the status column, after clicking on work unit name link], might give clue... e.g. are the tasks restarting independently?

I once had the same problem. I think that these two projects do have a hard computing time limit and the results must have a minimum of percentage crunched to get the "valid" state. When your computer does not have reached the required percentage the results will be flagged as invalid regardless of what is in the result. The solution is .. well. you should choose other projects.

I once had the same problem. I think that these two projects do have a hard computing time limit and the results must have a minimum of percentage crunched to get the "valid" state. When your computer does not have reached the required percentage the results will be flagged as invalid regardless of what is in the result. The solution is .. well. you should choose other projects.

Absolutely no such thing [for any VINA job] other than the standard multiplier applied to the original estimated run time [like 5 or 10 times before [exceeded maximum run time]. The tasks are invalid, meaning they completed in time, had no immediate reason to be declared in error, yet were somehow in bytes slightly different from the wingman and the repair man.

Times limited, soft and hard, are only immediate on HCMD2 and CEP2, with 6 hours [at 60%] and 12 hours respectively.

I have an Athlon XP 2800+ (XP Home SP3) that had all invalid on the VINA sciences during Beta testing, but I have not tried any production tasks on that machine. I will boot it up and try a couple of production DSFL/SN2S tasks to see if they show up as valid or invalid.
