I have not seen this message before.

You do not tell if this is a new install or not or the device is new to a specific science. New devices used to start off with a general quota of 5 [per core] under the old server 601, which is now under server 700, 2 [per core & science]. For every returned result without error, this quota is incremented immediately, so you could see quota 10 next up [I have seen and discussed this stepping

Thanks for responding Seke.
----------------------------------------No, this is not on a new device. The computer has been running BOINC for several years and doesn't show any errors or other abnormalities in the Results Stats since 6/20/12. I had recently adjusted the project selection to basically run just HCMD and HCC. I am sure that is what triggered the message to appear, but I am not sure why. Are either of those 2 projects on some sort of quota? Cheers ![]() ![]() |

No specific quota other than the known limit a device has at any one time for e.g. Beta. Your device will have been new ** to either of these 2. Remember, to the server 700 *all* devices were new ** as at March ~6, 2012, even if they were established prior to that implementation. Just crunch and return, which would happen no later than the last result completing [a core threatening to go idle].

The newness quota is per project, and not global? If so, that would explain it. Too bad the message does not reference the specific project. As posted in the log, the message about a quota doesn't appear to be project specific.

Yes, in the case it lists the sciences out for which no work is provided i.e. all you've selected [obviously DDDT-2 does not have any] If more sciences were selected of which there were no quota limitations and were available, you'd simply get work of those without any message, until the work the client for the quota limited has are returned. When work was available and send for any of your selections, there's no reason to message any alert [where the event log in the new client is not to be watched and true alerts requiring user rectification/input would be given through Notices [e.g. when a client threatens to go idle]. After the limited work is returned, the quota would just silently be increased and you'd never be aware.

Thanks for your time in typing out an explanation for me Seke.
----------------------------------------![]() That definately explains why I haven't seen this before. Whenever a truly new project comes online I get a mixed flow because it just gets added to the project(s) I have selected at the time (I have the automatically add new projects box checked). Although I have run HCMD and HCC in the past, I haven't done so since the new server installation in March 2012. So they were suddenly *new* projects when I figuratively threw the switch to run just those 2 projects after I just recently achieved my goal of sapphire on GFAM and CEP2. I decided to join in the final push to complete HCMD and messages in my log about GPU tasks being available for HCC caught my attention. I also had simultaneosly bumped up the queue size to a few days to deal with the current file transfer problem. I.E. the perfect storm Cheers ![]() ![]() |

The story is often answered by reading the content of the stdoutdea.txt file (message log), and the Result Status page "status" column. New devices, or new client installs have a quota and devices that return errors/invalids get an ever shrinking quota until the source of the fails is removed. Nothing much to do with how the preferences are defined [multiple devices of different capability associated with the same device profile].
