...no they did'nt. They reported they had a FAULT!

It is going to take awhile. During some testing of the SAN performance, a small portion of the GPFS file system was corrupted. We are taking the time to create a current copy of the filesystem now before we attempt any sort of repair activity.

Re: Server Errors.

According to BOINCtasks, the laptop I'm typing on has the smallest amount cached, for me... about 1-day, 6-hours. So, hopefully they'll have it back up by then. :-)
Heckuva time for it to happen... with a holiday weekend coming up here in the USA... even the techs deserve a few days off now and then.

cool

Re: Server Errors.

This kind of major collapse doesn't happen very often (not counting short periods of outage). Sure it's a USA holiday and everyone will be second-guessing how long the outage will be. I agree with Zoso, let the techs take some time out too. To them that will probably mean a few hours to spend with family before the bug the debug becomes too much to ignore.

If the outage is going to be for a few days, so be it. I'll give my machines a well deserved rest and might even treat them to the once over with the dyson over their fins and fans and other intimate places that I don't usually have the opportunity to reach.

Remember, we all donate our machines to a charitable end. Be happy that we have achieved so much already, and know that we will soon be doing so again soon.

Have a great weekend everyone (techies included) and spread the love in the real world instead of worrying about things that will inevitably be resolved wink

Re: Server Errors.

No big deal if WCG goes off line for a few days. Give everyone time to clean things up at home and techs to take some well deserved time off.
