Re: Server Errors.

The problem(s) can't be a simple one.
SW bugs are harder to solve than HW ones.

Goes back to what has changed since it was stable and why?

Re: Server Errors.

Or just do as I do, increase your work stack by a day or two, allow connection to the internet at any time, and let boinc take care of the uploads/downloads in its own good time. It's less stressful than sitting watching the uploads getting knocked back and retrying a dozen times.

Or set WCG to No New Work and switch to other BOINC-projects.

That certainly will decrease the WCG upload / download problems biggrin

Agreed - having nearly ran out of WUs (partly my own fault - I'd just aborted a load of CFSW ones so someone else can have them before the project ends - not knowing I'd have a problem getting other WUs to replace them with!).

So yes - I now have a longer work queue, which can take care of itself unless the project is really down for a long time. And things seem to be uploading/downloading fine at this moment in time, so I have a full queue again. hugs

Re: Server Errors.

"should be returning to normal."

It does not say "should have returned to normal", the wording used by uplinger rather indicates that this is still "work in progress"...

Understand. I just linked to post from some of us might assumed everything is resolved.

I am sure you understand not all of us are natural English speakers and we might miss some of nuances of your language (we are missing lot of them in our own mother tongues as well) wink

Cheers and NI!

Re: Server Errors.

It's appear be not just an intermitent problem. During the last month we saw constant problems and outages in the servers or/and WCG enviroment (probably software).

For sure, despite the tech team put efforts to solve the situation, it's not normal.

Unfortunately yesterday I lost a lot of results waiting for upload during one of WCG servers outages.

My device broken and I need reinstall the OS and BOINC again, so I lost all results processed which are in the queue to be uploaded (I'm talk about 214 tasks lost !). To bad ! sad

Re: Server Errors.

A watched kettle never boils. biggrin
Quite right.

So, would not watching the kettle boil the WCG sync water? Let me see...

I had a cache of 2.5days (2minimum + 0.5add'l). I waited for the cache of WUs to exhaust. I had a lot to unload through the same sync difficulties -- the pain of 2.5days hammered into me in one go. I'd rather have the pain distributed daily or even hourly. Unless the sync process is working smoothly by the minute, if not by the second -- No, a large cache setting does not help.

Rather than not watching the kettle boil, I'd call a handyman to fix the issue so I can then afford to 'not watch the kettle boil' and minutes after have a nice boiling-hot water for my cappuccino! wink

We have updated the known issues thread with more information. This should be recovering shortly.

Thanks,

Edit: Opps, duplicate post but with link... -Uplinger

Uplinger,

No idea what's going on your side, but restored it feels like nothing was... reading the manuals, starting to get strong associations with BOINC server 700 not up to the job [just a feeling]:

1. Switched off Linux quad with a depleted queue and bunches to upload because "no work requested, too many results to upload"

2. The W7-Octo has had hundreds of uploads that stuck at ~0.386%, time and again. The bonus after finally uploading and reporting: 165 that were put into the "Pending Verification" state, suggesting that the client connectivity quality is rated by the failure of WCG's intake capacity, or enough bits are suffixed or appended by failing uploads to not match the initialy checking process of result files. That's 165 extra copies piling into the repair queue. How many thousands are now waiting a reliable host, if there are still any left? Oddly, just before the final successful reporting of 54 a dozen 4 day repairs came in... Can't make heads nor tails of that... still no invalids I suppose not having triggered a downgrading.
