Re: Server Errors.

I am running a 2-day queue and limiting network access to 00:00-06:00 EDT and have no problems getting work or reporting.

Re: Server Errors.

Crunchers looking for a badge in CFSW, HFCC, or HCMD2 may perceive this as a problem.
WUs in those projects are getting scarce and some crunchers might have difficulty getting the run time needed.

Is this true? I ask because I'm getting several "Message from server: No tasks are available for the applications you have selected." and "Message from server: Tasks are committed to other platforms" on hosts that have only CFSW selected (well, also C4CW and DDDT2, but those are out of jobs at the moment).

If true, is it related to the "Server Errors" discussed here or is a project shortage?
Many BOINC-messages could use some polishing. The current server-issue served to cast some light on some of those messages. For example, there is confirmed a lot of CFSW tasks (continuing as of late), and so the BOINC-message "No tasks are available for Computing for Sustainable Water" is squarely incorrect*. My machines get instances of these incorrect BOINC-messages from time to time even before the current server-issue.

Notes:
*There are valid and legitimate reasons where no tasks can be downloaded to a client, but relying on a one-size-fits-all scenarios BOINC-message for the purpose makes for a less-than-smooth crunching-ride.

20/08/2012 16:58:26 World Community Grid Message from server: The Clean Energy Project - Phase 2 requires 63.48 KB/sec download bandwidth. Your computer has been measured at 3.09 KB/sec.

What's this based on as my D/L is much better then that

Re: Server Errors.

It's based off and mostly influenced by many small file downloads, which have a longer setup time, and then deteriorate the average DL rate of for instance a 1.82Kb sql file for CFSW. Mine does not measure over 32Kb most of the time, though the real is 20Mb.

Now, a sticky post at top of the CEP2 forum "New Project Setting" discusses this. There's an override so you can get CEP2 jobs nonetheless.

Re: Server Errors.

I currently have completed DSFL tasks that won't upload. I'm also unable to download new tasks. Is this somehow tied to the CFSW problem?

Possibly.
I had a bunch stuck as well when I got up this morning (well, noon tongue ) but they moved and could be reported when I manually retried the upload and the hit update on the project to report those WUs.
Otherwise, it seemed to have worked fairly smoothly again the last couple of days at least...

Re: Server Errors.

By the sounds of things, this issue is well on the way to being fixed permanently.

So, well done to all those in the background for all the hard work and effort that's been required to resolve this issue.

Whatever the attribution, extended Italian holidays, economics, project choice/continuity, server problems, sure to observe is the deepest summer decline seen in the WCG history:

Lets work to ramp this thing back up to new records.
