Did you try installing as a service?

Re: WCG computing and Windows 8

I think you need BOINC version 7.0.27 or higher to run it on Win8. Version 5.x.x may work but you'll have no GPU support.

Think the conversation switched to the thread linked in 1st reply [which you started], where MRodenas copied his comment to. Two posters after their initial comment on W8 not returning is never a hopeful.

Re: WCG computing and Windows 8

Hi, welcome to WCG.

How was BOINC installed, what version?

1. Standard way, no options changed during install.
2. Installed, changing in the advanced section to tick "Protected Application Execution" (aka service)
3. Selecting "Allow all users"

Thx

P.S. There was an internal note that W8 would be tested, but not heard when. It's the regular "New Windows, so lets test if the science apps run properly". Did not happen until Vista / W7 came to the retailer shelves, and only much later was there confirmation on the System Requirements pages: http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/help/viewTopic.do?shortName=minimumreq
