First I installed boinc 6.10.58 into default directory, which is c:\program files (x86)\boinc...
----------------------------------------I then unistalled it and reinstalled into C:\BOINC\ directory. I'm trying to run BOINC as stardard user and now UAC pops up every time I launch the client. How do I make it stop asking? If I remember correctly, there is some workaround where you somehow add "users" in boinc shortcut security tab but can't remember how you exactly do that.

I've done so. UAC pops up even when I log on as Administrator and launch boinc. I've also tried newest version but it didn't appear to task bar so I couldn't configure that. I have not tried to install Boinc as service because I'm not sure what that does. All I know is that I want to close Boinc easily from taskbar and start it all over again without typing any passwords.
----------------------------------------Oh well. Seems that I'm out of luck today. Maybe these problems are caused by my fresh windows installation, as it is now continuously downloading and configuring updates. I need to try again tomorrow. Thanks for your support! edit. Also tried to change datadirectory as well.

Hi mikaok
----------------------------------------I think the problem is where you have it installed. UAC on startup was a major problem but I haven’t heard of any problems since BOINC started using C:\programdata\BOINC. I would uninstall BOINC and do a clean install with 7.0.25 (or whatever recent version you like). Do a normal install under administrator. http://boinc.berkeley.edu/download.php A temporary solution might be to go into UAC Settings and reduce the level until you don’t get the message. Personally, I turn it off on all machines in the farm as it is just a nuisance. Good luck and keep us posted. ![]() ![]() [Edit 1 times, last edit by Dataman at May 19, 2012 4:36:59 PM] |
