Been looking but haven't find in other threads, just curious, anyone knows if a year (emerald badge) is 360 days or 365?

tonyh205, I believe it's only the _4 file that goes directly to Harvard - all the others (_0 to _3) go to WCG. OK, that would perfectly explain it Thank you. |

Look in "Help" for the badge topic and in Start Here where there a badge topic linking to the Help topic. :D
365 days is badge year, not 365.25 either to account for leap years ;) --//-- |

As for upload issues, thought to have seen round robin trying, and of course the selection of a specific file to upload and hitting Retry Now is an option.... or is it not? It's easier to test downloads than uploads, so grabbed a few SIMAP since they've got a nice size to test with, made sure all had failed to download once, and hit "retry" on one in the middle, for so seeing the 1st. download starting to transfer. (one transfer per project). So no, as long as the oldest transfer hasn't got a backoff of themselves appart for the project-wide one, choosing a specific file doesn't work. BTW, v7 was changed to try all transfers once, due to one of CPDN's many upload-servers having multi-day outage, and this lead to the project-wide backoff in v6.10.xx and v6.12.xx effectively blocked the uploads also to other servers. ![]() "I make so many mistakes. Whoohooo!!! The last host is finally uploading!!!
Calling it "snail pace" might be a huge overstatement, but at least you can imagine it to be moving along... Ralf ![]() |

Ok, first of all we want to sincerely apologize for the Harvard server outage in the early hours of today and any trouble it may have caused. It appears that some changes to the Harvard filesystems did not propagate to our servers with the effect that the WCG uploads started to get blocked. A big thanks goes to our friends at Harvard Research Computing and the IBM WCG team who managed to sort this out very quickly. You guys are the best and CEP couldn’t work without your support!

365 days is badge year, not 365.25 either to account for leap years ;) If you wanted to account for leap years, it would actually have to be 365.2425 days since 2100, 2200, 2300 will not be leap years, but 2400 will. This will keep on cycling like this after 2400. A tropical year is exactly 365.242190 days (not counting leap seconds) so some further adjustment to this rule will be necessary in the far future, but it has not been determined yet when that will happen. |

Another benefit of distributed computing: crowd-sourced server monitoring delivered via message board posts. Maybe I should write a paper, get a patent... maybe an RFC?
