Looks like someone left the tap on over the hill, but not a drop here. Maybe next time I'll be able to Crunch For Some beta Wine too
The real question is, 1.3 million experiments = how many tasks? For sure it's not one each After the 'sunny spell' WCG learned a lesson, and only accepts research with a reasonably high run time, AFAIA. Maybe in the future 'gap time' will also be considered Sounds like another good, humanitarian project - looking forward to it... |

None for my machine . Had to abort 4 wu's earlier today for a system crash. Guess WCG knocked my cruncher off the reliable list for a bit.

None for my machine . Had to abort 4 wu's earlier today for a system crash. Guess WCG knocked my cruncher off the reliable list for a bit. Each machine gets a reliable rating per application and version now. But since this is beta and it's a new application everyone is considered not reliable. The 2000 results that were sent out (only 1000 work units) went within an hour. Your machine would have needed to be ready to pick it up when they were going out. Sorry you did not get one on the first beta for this new project, but there will be others in the next few weeks. Thanks, -Uplinger |

No problem uplinger. Just the usual whining. I have boinc contact the server @.5 days in hope I get a better chance of snagging betas. I'll get them sooner or later. Got lucky being the 1st GPU wu crunched here. Keep up the great work you do at WCG. I'll try to keep the whining to a minimum.

Thankfully, I managed to catch 3 WU's - which, considering my Beta total is 0:089:20:26:29, should tip me over the edge . <Grin> Care to share the thoughts you had about that number when that last beta test was over? I was thinking - boy, this ties in very nicely with 6 other projects (soon to be 7). Perhaps, I might be able to get a 8 badge MEGA upgrade in 1 Stats recalculation... Now THAT would certainly be extremely hard to beat

In 1969 I took an oath to defend and protect the U S Constitution against all enemies, both foreign and Domestic. There was no expiration date.

A little off topic but it looks like the University of Virginia is getting their website ready too. They have actually posted a launch date. Of course it could change given how the beta tests go.

There will be over 1.3 million experiments distributed to computers on the World Community Grid, each requiring approximately 7 hours of computing time. If this work were done on the UVa Cross-Campus Computing Grid (XCG), it would take about 90 years to complete; with the power of the IBM World Community Grid, it will require less than one year. Looks as though I'll also have to change my priorities if I'm to reach a minimum of Emerald in each project... |
