Re: New Project Beta test v6.04 Issues Thread

I got six of them. Started smooth with very regular checkpoints.
Used memory 275 MB.

Keith, why did you put cfsw in the task names?
Now it's very easy to guess that the new project will be the "Computing for Sustainable Water" project cool

Yes, the _1's seem to have started going out now (I've got my 4th as a _1, whilst my first 3 _0's are (or were when I checked a couple of minutes ago), were "Waiting to be sent").

BTW, as Crystal Pellet has said, as the "Cat is out of the bag", are we allowed to mention the project (especially as it's the last of the 3 already announced projects, and the badges are already there?)

Re: New Project Beta test v6.04 Issues Thread

gb009761,

As mentioned in my announcement, every machine will be unreliable to this app version. Which will cause 2 copies to be sent out. It sends the first one out, then updates min_quorum to 2. The transitioner sees this and generates a second result. This takes a few minutes to catch because the transitioner is always busy with so many results a day :)

But as you have noticed, the second wave (the check wave) is being sent out. Should be finished sending in the next 15-30 minutes i would imagine.

Re: New Project Beta test v6.04 Issues Thread

Ah, okay - it's just that I was thinking that 2 copies would have been sent out straightaway, i.e., without the pause. Thanks for the explanation smile

Got Windows?

BETA_ cfsw_ 0000_ 00000494_ 1-- - Waiting to be sent

Gone to a lucky winner. applause

I got one too!!! I got BETA_cfsw_0000_0000492_1--

Of course that is the same machine I am trying to get the two gpu's in it to run on two different projects at the same time, and the Beta says 'waiting to run', figures doesn't it?!!! I will have to micro-manage that pc to get it thru quickly!!

ps I have a cc_config.xml file but it doesn't seem to be reading it correctly and I need to figure out why!

Re: New Project Beta test v6.04 Issues Thread

I wonder what kind of programming these are using ?
They are running very smoothly so far and I have noticed these are the first WUs I have run that actually
seem to be using my RAM memory. It seems that each one that starts up uses an additional 200+ MB of RAM.
Win 7 (crunching or not) usually uses about 13% of my RAM and with these running it is using 35 % !
I think that's a good sign biggrin

Edit:(hours later)
Well on Win 7 they finished in just over 4 hours.
Very efficient , almost no difference between Elapsed time and CPU time.
I still think there was something unusual about the programming.
There are almost no programs of any sort that actually take proper advantage of RAM. I'm sure they are meant to but few do.

Re: New Project Beta test v6.04 Issues Thread

Found one waiting in queue. I moved it up and it is running now. Hope to see more.

Re: New Project Beta test v6.04 Issues Thread

Thankfully, I managed to catch 3 WU's - which, considering my Beta total is 0:089:20:26:29, should tip me over the edge biggrin.
<Grin> Care to share the thoughts you had about that number when that last beta test was over? shock

Re: New Project Beta test v6.04 Issues Thread

These Beta units have a 10 day deadline instead of the usual 4 day. Is that intentional?

Re: New Project Beta test v6.04 Issues Thread

As for the project name....

*SHHHHH* Even though it was mentioned in a previous press release, lets keep the name used to a minimum until actual launch. :) If you would like to refer to the project, please use the short name, 'CFSW'.

Thanks,
