Still having the same problem, PDBQT file won't download. I've switched another machine to HCMD2, as it's finished betas. ... same problem. I seem to have solved the problem?? I shut down Boinc Manager (just the manager, not the whole system), ran Ccleaner (not sure if that directly helped or not?), waited 5 minuets, restarted Boinc and it downloaded the PDBQT file straight away and now Malaria is ready "Ready to Start". ![]() ![]() |

I've tried switching to SN2S, but that fails too:

Your problem is by the looks of it to get a copy of one or more permanent files that are served from the cloud. Somewhere knreed posted an IP address to pull them directly from source [4-6 months ago for someone to try, who succeeded]. That IP address has to be put [temporarily] in the hosts file. Probably somewhere on the pathway you've got a wonky hop and it being cloud, it could be coming from anywhere on the planet and not resolving properly.
----------------------------------------Booting the router and maybe flushing the DNS cache kicks it back in order. Devices that have the file already have no issue [oh that reminds me... the ol' one device to the other device copy trick ;>]. The .tga is one such perm file. Yesterday my old laptop was switched on that never had SN2S, and the pdbqt/tga files downloaded fine... I was puzzled... why would my device succeed and not yours [and it does not have that direct IP in hosts]? Maybe IPv6 [how wild a guess one can throw]... my Linux [you're on that platform] was told to thoroughly ignore these for external, but LAN internal it has to be on for the W7 devices, else the file sharing wont work from my file server [don't ask me]. --//-- [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Mar 26, 2012 8:04:30 AM] |

Turning on http_debug in cc_config seems to increase the chance of file transfers being successful!
However, sometimes they still aren't: 26-Mar-2012 00:47:01 [---] [http_debug] HTTP_OP::init_get(): https://download.worldcommunitygrid.org/boinc...P_A.clustersOccur.pdb.gzb 26-Mar-2012 00:47:01 [World Community Grid] Started download of hcmd2.2R2P_A.clustersOccur.pdb.gzb 26-Mar-2012 00:47:02 [---] [http_debug] [ID#0] info: About to connect() to download.worldcommunitygrid.org port 443 (#0) 26-Mar-2012 00:47:02 [---] [http_debug] [ID#0] info: Trying 170.224.160.205... 26-Mar-2012 00:49:02 [---] [http_debug] [ID#0] info: Connection time-out after 120057 ms 26-Mar-2012 00:49:02 [---] [http_debug] [ID#0] info: Expire cleared 26-Mar-2012 00:49:02 [---] [http_debug] [ID#0] info: Closing connection #0 26-Mar-2012 00:49:02 [---] [http_debug] HTTP error: Timeout was reached On very large files, the chance of the server wandering off and not responding gets extremely high. |

Well, I watched SN2S arriving and it has like a dozen 4MB .tga files and speed for a period of time was not but 50-54K on DL, then into the last third it jumped to 800Kb/sec.

Somewhere knreed posted an IP address to pull them directly from source [4-6 months ago for someone to try, who succeeded]. That IP address has to be put [temporarily] in the hosts file. The worst thing is that it's really not that temporary. Current HCMD2s run about 25 mins on my P4 HT. Up to 8 an hour, requiring a new .pdb.gzb for each time. That kludge needs to be in the /etc/hosts file all the time, until this mess gets fixed. (The alternative is a huge waste of bandwidth and/or a huge amount of time with no work done.) |

I had this problem and solved by re-installing BOINC. I had an older version before.

Also I noticed that the computers already running the current version of BOINC (the one you can download from WCG websilte for windows) had no problems.

Just today a windows pc running 6.6.38 wouldn't download SN2S or Clean energy- I exited Boinc manager stopping the projects, installed 6.10.58 from wcg over top and it's running fine so far...
