That [sluggishness/mouse jerking etc] is the experience WCG is most concerned with, which is why the default setting is to only GPU crunch when the system is not receiving user input.

Does the app set 'thread' priority? Not the same as process priority.
----------------------------------------Suggest Base Priority 6, Dynamic Priority 7. [Edit 1 times, last edit by skgiven at Mar 16, 2012 8:13:13 PM] |

My first-ever WCG Beta tasks, three in number, completed on Q9300/Q9300/Q9550, in XP_x64/Vista_x64/W7_x64, in 1h15m/1h22m/1h15m,
claimed credit 25.2 (PV)/25.9 (granted)/27.5 (PV) My graphics cards are low-end, being the then best-available AMD cards without fans: ATI 4550/2400/9500GT. |

That can be solved by: - using a different port. - disabling any power management for USB hub. Please give details where I can change these settings. This could be a BIG reason why ppl don't use GPU crunching on their everyday working PCs The USB bit is easy... visit the Device Manager, right click on any of the USB entries > Properties and take the Power Management tab [if it has one] ** and untick the box that allows to save power. The port part has me thoroughly puzzled. BOINC port, Card PCI/PCIE slot. Definitely useful for those who wish to max out. --//-- edit: ** only the Generic USB Hub and USB Root Hub have the Power Management option on my machine.
