I loved it at first read, Viper97. Some people may have no wolves at all - I willingly admit to having both of them - but I try not to fill both food bowls I believe in a different philosohpy. There's only one person you Have to look at. Every time you stand in front of a mirror. If one is ok with the person one sees, it isn't very important what anyone else thinks. Especially when opinions are based on Their demons projected to you in almost all cases. |

This is deep, Sean
- I have to mull it over more times than one, and I cannot do it now 'cause I'm balancing my bank account ![]() |

My balancing is not going well.
I'm more broke than I thought When I look in the mirror, Sean, I see me and the shadow of two wolves - not because anybody projected their demons to me, but because I'm a human being for good and for bad in my own right. BTW, men seem to like their mirrored picture better than women, I think |

We seem to keep covering the same ground here and I wish it were not so.
LM, you are one of the sweetest spirited people that I have encountered in forums. You have said very well about the two-sides that all people have to their spirits. I would add that we all have certain gifts that God has granted to us. Those gifts, however, do have 2-sides to them. When used for good, they are powerful, rightly aligned and in their most productive mode. When used for bad, they are almost equally as powerful, but result in an opposite/destructive effect. Let's focus on doing things here that unleash the good side of being a Team and hopefully prevent the Mods from having to do so much clean-up. I like LM's "ghost protector" or whatever that thing was... ![]() |

It was a ghost trap, texinga - but I like ghost protector as well - sort of a dream catcher, I believe. Once I thought a dream catcher was for catching your wonderful dreams - but I learned that they are to prevent the bad ones reaching you. Is that right? ![]() |

Ha, I had to Wiki that term and yes, it would appear that your understanding is correct...catches the bad dreams. I'm my wife's "dream catcher" of sorts. Every time she has a bad dream, it wakes me up and then I wake her up. Or does that make me a "dream snatcher"? At least I am a "wakie-wakie"!!

That behaviour will definitely qualify you for being a dream catcher/snatcher in my mind.
The explanation of the purpose of a dream catcher was given to me by "White Horse" who used to have her own team back in the UD days. She's a Crow. She also gave me my Crow name biaxaake-taatawe meaning "duck who wants to be free". At that time I was still unproductively married and my handle was "the ugly duckling". Base Camp made a Trek with her team and the badge was a dream catcher. ![]() *End of History Lesson* |

LM, that "history" has got my antennae wiggling. Cool about the Native American name that you were given too.
So, if I have this correctly, your handle(s) have progressed from "the ugly duckling" (that one doesn't fit you), to "duck who wants to be free" (closer), to now "Little Mermaid" (perfect for you IMO). So how did you arrive at LM as a handle? Please don't tell us that you're not a real Mermaid either!!! ![]() |

I know that in response to a TV programme on "Animal Planet" US authorities have felt
called upon to defuse the idea of mermaids existing. This was a hard blow to me. In the Kingdom of Denmark we have two: the real one at the port of Copenhagen - and me "The Ugly Duckling" is one of Hans Christian Andersen's fairy tales. I chose that name because I'm fond of my country and what it has accomplished in spite of being very small. "The Little Mermaid" is another fairy tale by Hans Christian Andersen which I chose for the same reason but in particular because I lost my password for the Base Camp forum after having hibernated for a couple of years This way the two names have a common background. Hans Christian Andersen. "The Ugly Duckling" has a very happy ending, whereas "The Little Mermaid" is a sad one, unfortunately. biaxaake-taatawe meaning "duck who wants to be free" is just my Crow name. "White Horse" who was and is a friend of mine tried to translate our names into Crow. She knew me well, and with Crow wisdom she gave me that name as if she had a vision. ![]() Here he is in Central Park, New York, ugly duckling and all ![]() |
