I am finding that work on any projects I am running goes fine initially, but then for an unknown reason the elapsed time counter and %done count stop and no more work seems to be getting done. I've already tried re-downloading the program and playing around with preferences and, but the project (help fight childhood cancer) remains stuck at a 23min 23s elapsed time even though I left it alone over an hour.

Hello everybody,
I'm having a similar problem with some of the tasks. Most of the time the program works fine but with some tasks the progress pertentacege freezes after a while, usually after completing most of the tasks (right now it's 95% complete). The computer is switched on and off every day, and yet the task keeps stuck at the same point. Here are the first lines of the messages tab 05/12/2011 13:48:50 Starting BOINC client version 6.10.58 for windows_x86_64 05/12/2011 13:48:50 log flags: file_xfer, sched_ops, task 05/12/2011 13:48:50 Libraries: libcurl/7.19.7 OpenSSL/0.9.8l zlib/1.2.3 05/12/2011 13:48:50 Data directory: C:\ProgramData\BOINC 05/12/2011 13:48:50 Running under account zemsania 05/12/2011 13:48:50 Processor: 2 GenuineIntel Intel(R) Pentium(R) CPU P6100 @ 2.00GHz [Family 6 Model 37 Stepping 5] 05/12/2011 13:48:50 Processor: 256.00 KB cache 05/12/2011 13:48:50 Processor features: fpu vme de pse tsc msr pae mce cx8 apic sep mtrr pge mca cmov pat pse36 clflush dts acpi mmx fxsr sse sse2 ss htt tm pni ssse3 cx16 nx lm tm2 popcnt pbe 05/12/2011 13:48:50 OS: Microsoft Windows 7: x64 Edition, Service Pack 1, (06.01.7601.00) 05/12/2011 13:48:50 Memory: 3.87 GB physical, 7.73 GB virtual 05/12/2011 13:48:50 Disk: 452.66 GB total, 346.98 GB free 05/12/2011 13:48:50 Local time is UTC +1 hours 05/12/2011 13:48:54 ATI GPU 0: ATI Radeon HD5x00 series (Cedar) (CAL version 1.4.696, 512MB, 120 GFLOPS peak) 05/12/2011 13:48:54 World Community Grid URL http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/; Computer ID 1710062; resource share 100 05/12/2011 13:48:54 World Community Grid General prefs: from World Community Grid (last modified 01-Jan-1970 01:00:01) 05/12/2011 13:48:54 World Community Grid Host location: none 05/12/2011 13:48:54 World Community Grid General prefs: using your defaults 05/12/2011 13:48:54 Preferences: 05/12/2011 13:48:54 max memory usage when active: 1979.36MB 05/12/2011 13:48:54 max memory usage when idle: 2969.03MB 05/12/2011 13:49:03 max disk usage: 10.00GB 05/12/2011 13:49:03 don't use GPU while active 05/12/2011 13:49:03 suspend work if non-BOINC CPU load exceeds 25 % 05/12/2011 13:49:03 (to change preferences, visit the web site of an attached project, or select Preferences in the Manager) 05/12/2011 13:49:03 Not using a proxy 05/12/2011 13:49:03 Suspending computation - initial delay 05/12/2011 13:51:06 World Community Grid Restarting task GFAM_x1j3iWt_NDP_2WATs_0000746_0084_0 using gfam version 608 05/12/2011 13:51:07 World Community Grid Restarting task qa851_00012_6 using hpf2 version 640 Thank you for your help. |

The first poster never came back, so suppose a loss to WCG or it was fixed. We'd like to know what did the trick either way.
Could be that BOINC goes to sleep [Power Saving profile will do that after 20 minutes without keyboard input]. We really need to get more message log with same additional flags, so we can see what tasks are doing. E.g. add <checkpoint_debug>1</checkpoint_debug> <cpu_sched>1</cpu_sched> <sched_ops>1</sched_ops> <task_debug>1</task_debug> to the cc_config.xml file <log_flags> section. The file, if it exists is in your case in C:\ProgramData\BOINC When done, read the config in via the Advanced menu, look in message log if accepted, then restart client. Post from where the task starts to after where it stops progressing. --//-- |
