Greetings everyone,
lately my laptop computer got stolen. Local Police is already serching for it. It was a really nice Core i7 machine. I worked long time to afford it. Could you please help me find it? There was WCG BIONIC Agent installed on it. A day ago, it disappeared in "Device Manager" under "My Grid" at wcg.com. Does it mean somebody is using it and uninstalled BIONIC Agent? Is there a way to get IP adress that sent this "delete-me" command to WCG? (Police would be interested in that IP.) Thanks in advance for any help. I'm quite desperate. ![]() |

Sorry to hear this.
----------------------------------------How long ago was it stolen? Did you had any other projects attached? If it is no longer in the device manager then it's because it has not returned any results in 14 days(I think) ![]() - AMD Ryzen 5 1600AF 6C/12T 3.2 GHz - 85W - AMD Ryzen 5 2500U 4C/8T 2.0 GHz - 28W - AMD Ryzen 7 7730U 8C/16T 3.0 GHz |

Yeah..that is an advantage of participating in other projects. You can see the last IP address that was used to contact their servers. I have tracked PC's in the past this way for logging in with remote host software.

You are right Falconet. It is only hidden when option "With Result(s) Returned" is set to 14 days or less.
I participate only at WCG project. My only machine computing right now is Pentium 3 600Mhz garage server. So there isn't exactly much computing capacities left :) . I can only wait and hope for now. Thank you. |

You should consider using an account manager like http://boincstats.com/. Then, you could switch the projects it is connecting to. That would let you track it until they remove BOINC altogether or stop accessing internet.
----------------------------------------And, I would recommend a project that is light and updates pretty regular like wuprop. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() [Edit 1 times, last edit by Coleslaw at Sep 1, 2011 10:07:41 PM] |

chances are that whomever stole it has formatted the hard drive and reinstalled whatever operating system they wanted. this would of course also erase all your info as well as the boinc & projects. one suggestion to facilitate recovery of a laptop would be to have Lo-Jack installed when u purchase it
