I installed BOINC and have run it a few times, but it does not seem to run anything or do anything. I had selected the program to run any and all programs. One thing I found is that in the notes section toward the top there is a not saying "Cannot find any usable GPU." Sorry, I don't know what a GPU is or how to make one useful. But that is only one idea.

The GPU is not currently necessary here at WCG. So for now, it isn't a factor. As Falconet mentioned, please give us the message info. That will help us diagnose your troubles.

Im guessing this line has something to do with it.
----------------------------------------8/14/2011 9:06:53 AM World Community Grid General prefs: from World Community Grid (last modified 31-Dec-1969 18:00:01) WCG wasn't around in 1969. I would change your WCG preferences again and then reboot. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Nope. The default date is 1.1.1970... the date that Unix uses as offset to calculate all later dates. If you've never modified the profile, it will show that date, plus/minus your local time, so 18:00 is 6 hours before UTC, making it 12-dec-1969 18:00
Interesting isn't it :D --//-- |

hi arawson69,
----------------------------------------By the looks you've chosen HFCC (Help Fight Childhood Cancer) as your sole project. It's currently low-order available which is why you get those ''no work'' messages. If you also select the "If there is no work available for my computer for the projects I have selected above, please send me work from another project" in the My Grid > My Projects, near the bottom, your computer will get alternate available work until HFCC is full in production. Good time to test if everything is properly working. Thanks for joining WCG and happy crunching. --//-- [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Aug 14, 2011 3:53:08 PM] |

I selected all the projects and the send me work from other projects at the beginning and checked it just now on the web site. I dont find such an option on the BOINC manager.

arawson69,
----------------------------------------Just ignore that for the moment [for advanced users ;>]. Your client is properly associated with WCG. You only need to change your WCG science selections on this website. Edit: The sub-projects cannot be selected in the client. The only thing that now has to happen is for BOINC to connect to the servers again. Go to the *Project* tab in BOINC [Advanced view], select WCG and hit *Update* button on left. Think things will start working then. ttyl --//-- [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Aug 14, 2011 4:04:02 PM] |
