Re: UK

Now compare those to the last 3 full days of work the nice dual-quad-core Xeon server did, that I got to "test" for 2 months! biggrin

07/04/2012 : 0:015:05:42:47 : 57,988 : 97
07/03/2012 : 0:020:20:43:52 : 75,643 : 116
07/02/2012 : 0:017:07:31:54 : 63,394 : 95

Little bit of a difference...

Re: UK

haggistheoriginal appeared to have become inactive [no results since February]. I was wrong blushing - so far in July: 0:056:08:52:43; 166,519; 385 . Welcome back haggistheoriginal biggrin

haggistheoriginal back with a vengance as yesterday's RT stats show:

Re: UK

crooks_uk
Unfortunately I have not seen the increase in performance I had hoped for.

Maybe not but you currently rank #1 in improved performance. wink

UK team improved Average RT per Calender Day July:June
crooks_uk 4.0 (days)
(haggistheoriginal 3.7)
themoonscrescent 3.2
Wicksman 2.9
(webz 1.8)

Thargor is still playing catchup after loss of the dual-quad-core Xeon server. By comparison his Avg RT per CD July:June is -3.1 Though wih all his VMs now up and running I would expect him to be showing equality or possibly a small increase by month end.
haggistheoriginal - no crunching in June; and webz - joined 30th June; are not strictly comparable.

Re: UK

Well, I've just configured these new VMs into a resource-pool, which shows more stats, and they're currently pulling a total of anything between 37.5GHz and 39.5GHz! biggrin

The dual-quad-core had 2.4GHz cores, so I make that 38.4GHz when running at 100%, so the five 4-core VMs should perform about the same! smile

Re: UK

Thargor - any ideas how long you will be 'testing' the new servers for?

Technically, these aren't "test" servers like the previous one - this is part of a functional development-lab we've built ourselves downstairs in the basement-datacentre.

Granted, the cluster is built using spares, so we may need to pull one of the physical hosts out at very short notice, but the VMs should remain active if/when that happens as there are 10 physical hosts in the cluster.

So, the answer would ideally be "permanently", but is wholly dependent on the reliability of our live equipment (which is under manufacturer warranty so the chances of having to use this kit for repairs just yet are quite small).

Re: UK

Crikey those are slow but nonetheless chugging away. And as you say, just a little difference to the test Xeon server you had. Shame you couldn't have kept that beast for a bit longer, especially at the 30-odd ghz available.

Re: UK

Slow indeed, but I believe they are socket-604 Xeons from 7-8 years ago...
