biggrin Re: UK

Some good news... I got my first badge from the 6 projects that have kicked off since I previously stopped crunching! Now to get bronze in the other 5 and head for Silver!

Unfortunately, due to some miscalculation, I underestimated the amount of time it would take me to get to 3 CPU years with my current team and it's now about 70 CPU days from middnight last night. On the positive side, I've dedicated 90% of my quad-core media PC to the cause which doesn't get as much use as it used to so will be crunching 24/7 - Add that to the part-time laptop and I should be moving to Team UK by the weekend after next!

Looking forward to joining you soon... onwards and upwards!

Re: UK

Am very close to Emerald badge #9 (Help Cure Muscular Dystrophy - Phase 2), but with all projects re-activated again, it may take a week or two to get it...

Re: UK

Well, VM#5 has now finished the workunits it has, but I'm stuck with a unit I'm trying to report as finished, but the server(s) are still playing up! sad

EDIT: spoke too soon; as soon as I posted this, it successfully reported that final workunit as completed about 30 seconds later! Let the rebuild commence! smile

Re: UK

Well, VM#5 is rebuilt, just need to wait for the server(s) to respond to an update-request and let me have some workunits now! smile

EDIT: oh, and I remembered to reset the profile back to Default, so it wouldn't download another 2 days worth of work before noticing the issue was still there.

Re: UK

And, now I'm at home, it looks to have been crunching solidly for an hour on all four 4 cores, so looks like a rebuild fixed the issue!

Re: UK

Finger crossed on the rebuild there Thargor. Just had a quick gander and some nice scores you've output recently.

As for here, I have added 2 extra cores this evening, so up to 4 part timers now.

Re: UK

A quick mental count, and I think I'm now up to:

- one 12GB i7-920 (quad-core, my gaming PC so not always crunching)
- one 4GB Intel P9600 laptop (dual-core, crunching when I'm not driving to/from work)
- one 4GB Intel Xeon server (twin dual-core, but very slow)
- two 2GB Intel Xeon servers (one twin single-core, one twin dual-core, both very slow)
- one unknown AMD machine (crunching donated by a friend)
- one 2GB 8-core VM (2.4GHz cores)
- five 768MB 4-core VMs (restricted to 1.5GHz per core)

They're churning through a few workunits, now......I'm still planning on building a beast of a machine (dual hex-core Xeons) to use at home, though! My electricity bill is going to be interesting! biggrin

Re: UK

A beast indeed! Just need the power plant to go with it, I sense your power peeps rubbing their hands at the thought of that beast.

Not a bad little list of machines there. Out of curiosity, what speed are those slow/very slow Xeon's going at? Would have thought they would have been reasonable speed for churning through the units, not quite the i7 type of speed admittedly wink .
