Re: Morning Update

Nice going Ian.
Just noticed that on this page, 181, there are posts from 3 long time UK members, yourself, TMC and Barnsley.

Looking through the joining date of team members, there are quite a few days where several people joined. For example, 17 Feb 2005, 20 people signed up. 4 never even installed but at least the others did send something back.

The oldest (WCG member) posting in this thread is GB033533 smile who interestingly joined WCG 12-Aug-04 - before the official start date - as did MABramwell and bzsmith. The oldest UK team member posting in the thread is Maugan WCG 26-Apr-05 UK team 03-May-05

@ genhos Instead of me doing all the work maybe you could pick a few more factoids from here wink

@ GB033533 wink Maybe you could share with us what was happening in those early days. confused

WCG Joined dates are hopelessly wrong. Mucho embarassment. See new post

As I joined after seeing something on the Beeb I did a quick search and found these:
20 November, 2004: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/4024931.stm
17 Feb 2005: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/sci/tech/4270241.stm

Re: Morning Update

Great links Ian_UK biggrin

I've shared your post with "MyOnlineTeam" as they feature in the second article and added:

I'll emal "Click" at the BBC (Click@bbc.co.uk.) to see if they might be interested in doing a follow up. I know it's early but the 10th anniversary of WCG would be something to "hang" a piece on.

I don't know whether WCG undertakes any general PR activity but I'll message the Admin staff and see if they would support the idea.

It would be so cool to see WGC on Click. The statistics we're all responsible for are truly amazing - just shows the power of the humble home PC.

Click could ask for a few volunteers to say what prompted them to join WGC.

The publicity may even drum up even more members for such a worthy cause. :)

Re: Ew, lurgy!

I had something similar a couple of months back, crikey was it draining, in more ways than one! sick I don't think I have ever felt that rough before.

All the best TMC, good to hear you're on the mend.

Thanks smile .. I thought I was on the mend, but I had a secondary (but hopefully the last), spout of it within a few hours of that post sad

I can't believe it has caused me to sleep for almost a day and a half, with me only waking up to do the indescribable sad (why is it, I almost always become Ill when on annual leave??).

Hay ho, feel loads better now, and seriously hungry, thinking I might go to my 2nd favorite cafe in the high street and order me some smoked salmon & scrambled egg on toast, then sit outside and laugh as I watch all the hedge monkeys making their way to the Pilton Festival biggrin

(Pilton Festival = Glastonbury festival, I will never understand why it is called Glastonbury Festival when it's nowhere near Glastonbury???, Worthy Farm in Pilton is far closer to Shepton Mallet than Glastonbury.

Hedge Monkey = Hippy

Forgot to add, doing all that, while avoiding the constant stream of travellers offering to sell me Lucky Heather which they nicked from next doors garden).

Re: Ew, lurgy!

Good morning all,

Doing a little bit of rendering this week on a hex and a quad core workstation, so I should have a little boost for the team.

Re: Ew, lurgy!

Forgive for being a bit dim, but 'rendering' puts me in mind of laths and plasterboards, or worse pebble dash.javascript:smilie('tongue')
