Re: UK

My newest PC should be back and running at some time tomorrow, with a new Motherboard & Graphics Card, it's server reputation (or what ever it's called), is going to be badly damaged due to it being down for a week, I've not replied to loads of work units on that system (wouldn't let me into windows to Abort any), so i've no idea what temporary limitations will be put on it.

Ohh well, atleast it'll be back & crunching biggrin

Re: UK

Welcome to WCG and to the UK team defscan biggrin hugs

I see that you have already returned 0:004:09:17:49; 15,740; 24. smile and I would assume that you've got to grips with GPU crunching already but if you need any help or advice don't hesitate to ask.

We would be interested in hearing what device/graphics card you are running.

I hopr you have a long and productive crunching experience. biggrin

Re: UK

Team UK Twitter account: www.twitter.com/TeamUK_WCG

Hi jonnieb!

In an effort to capture new Team UK crunchers. I have created our own Twitter account. My thoughts on this were to "Tweet" the teams daily records, badges and news. Not only will this give Team UK some exposure on a large social network, but also a way to get people who have never heard of WCG before interested and get behind Team UK.

I will be more than happy to give you the password for you to change and to do with it what you would like.

A Bio still needs to be written for the page, so if any members here are more articulate than myself and fancy giving it a bash, please be my guest.

Let me know what you guys think.

fosking.
Good idea fosking. I've also created a Facebook page in case anyone want's to "like" it:

https://www.facebook.com/WCGTeamUK

To avoid abuse, I've restricted posting to admins only. If you're a member of the team and you want to help spread the word on facebook, please like the page and then send me a message on here with your actual name (or whatever made-up name you use on Facebook) and I'll add you to the admins list.

Three times in the last 7 days the UK team has exceded 1 year's RT per cd . Full-on celebration is deferred because the system downtime/slowdown has skewed individual days' results but the fact that the daily average for January has climbed to 0:315:23:04:53 whilst the 7day average has hit 0:321:23:12:19 is very satisfying. cool
The time to trumpet our success will be when the 7day average hits 1:000:00:00:00 wink

It's Wednesday today. Same as Sunday, a backup is run which means the validators are paused for as long as it takes. Start time is on or after 07:30 UTC (my PV queue started increasing from results with timestamp of 08:33 UTC and on). ... currently running backups of the database starting at 7:30 UTC on Sunday and Wednesday mornings. In order to allow them to finish relatively quickly while we wait for the additional RAM, we are stopping the backend processes (i.e. validation) while the backup runs.

As of 13:34 the backup would appear to be still running and therefore validations since 08:30 are still paused. Thus the midday crunch is understated. On a time proportioned basis only I would guesstimate the true figure to be ~140 days. thinking

Update: 14:42 Validation has restarted and 2.5hrs of the backlog has been cleared. wink
