Re: UK

Gosh - a few days away and so many new milestones and PBs! Congratulations to everyone who's achieved something numerically notable in the last four days. And thanks again, JohnnieB for the excellent work on the stats.

Re: UK

Well, I'm not sure how long I'll get to use it (potentially not very long), but have just got a dual quad-core Xeon 2.40GHz (E5620) server added to my "farm".

Currently testing it, as it was showing some issues when used in the live network...

@Thargor
Nice bit of kit. A very detailed and very lengthyyyy examination is called for. wink
And if you were to forget to uninstall when you have to return the device.....

It is a shame to see that Mike-UK has stopped crunching for us sad , he was No. 1 in the team when I 1st joined (by a Looong way), and it's only in fairly recent times that his effort dropped off (not that long before you (jonnieb), joined), and now he's stopped completely.

He's back! Activity at 12/4/12 14:58:31 biggrin

Guess he just couldn't stay away! wink

A lengthy testing period would be nice, but I'm afraid the second request would never happen - we wipe and fresh-install every machine that gets removed or re-purposed, as we have a facility that can wipe and fresh-install a server with a brand-new Debian install in about 3 minutes, including our standard settings and basic-config for the server.

I've not yet managed to persuade people to include BOINC in this basic-config, I doubt that'd ever happen! biggrin

Re: UK

An exceptionally detailed report from The Olson Laboratory, on the GFAM project:

http://gofightagainstmalaria.scripps.edu/inde...r-potential-malaria-drugs

I'm liking that we're seeing more of these, recently, really gives the crunching work even more meaning to see the actual reports and results that come out from it, rather than it just being random work-units we hand back after finishing! smile

Re: UK

I hope everyone is well.

It's been a while since I have checked in due to work commitments but it's nice to see I have managed to pass some nice milestones since I last looked.

Re: UK

And let's see how this copes with crunching......just overclocked my gaming PC from 2.66GHz per core (quad), up to 3.36GHz per core! smile

Initial reports are full-load temps of 50-60C, fan still pretty quiet, but only time (a few days) will tell as to if it's doing a noticeable amount more crunching......and, of course, if it stays stable.
