Re: UK

I'm liking that we're seeing more of these, recently,

Me too. biggrin Though I have to say some of the science goes wayover my head. talk to the hand

HCC1 Beta Test for Linux GPU of interest to anyone?

[edit] Checked back through the UK thread and no one has ever put their their hand up for running Linux on their own PC(s) possibly excepting adamhill1988

No idea how many devices run Linux so impossible to say what the distortion to Points and Results will be once it goes into production.

Wonder if it's significant that the reference is to HCC1 rather than just HCC?? confused

Good morning Team biggrin

Wonder if it's significant that the reference is to HCC1 rather than just HCC??

"We are releasing a batch of work units for beta test on Linux GPU only", so possibly the 2nd batch will be called "HCC2 Beta Test for Linux GPU"??

I run Linux on all but one of my WCG machines but, unfortunately for this beta, that non-Linux one (Windows 7, my gaming PC) is the only one with a graphics card capable of running GPU work-units...

Re: UK

@ Thargor
Sorry for being unclear. What I was trying to get at was whether the UK team has anyone running Linux with a graphic card capable of GPU. This would potentially be of benefit to the team once the HCC1 Linux GPU move into production.

I do have a GTX-285, somewhere, that I could potentially fit into my fileserver (running debian-squeeze). However, having only recently lost everything to a critically-failed RAID-array (thankfully I had backups of the important stuff on there), I'd prefer not to put too much stress on it again and potentially have to do another rebuild...

I have two machines running Linux at the moment. It's easiest (licence-wise) for those machines which I use for nothing but WCG.

Afternoon all.

Good to see Mike_UK has resumed crunching, hopefully for the long term too.

And good to see the team progressing, as shown by Statto's stats wink .

Crunch on!

Re: UK

I have a feeling this new testing server may be making a "small" difference to my stats, here are the last two days (I installed it at about 3pm yesterday):

12/05/2012 : 0:026:19:55:58 : 104,604 : 144
12/04/2012 : 0:036:05:30:00 : 138,226 : 229

Not too bad, when you consider that the stats for today are only for the first HALF of the day, compared to a full day yesterday! biggrin
