biggrin Re: UK

After just over a month's break adoades makes a return to crunching logging 0:002:01:27:40 yesterday. biggrin Welcome back. hugs

Recent new member isandunk establishs a triple PB benchmark and themoonscrescent adds 25k to his Points PB: biggrin
	isandunk Runtime	0:23:20:18	Points 6,339 Results	5
themoonscrescent Runtime Points 200,167 Results

Wicksman makes a valid point in his post above. In the cold light of day I can see an interesting pastime becoming an onerous, all-consuming obsession! So I'll be sticking with my existing stats with just a few tweaks around the edges. wink

Re: UK

I'm not sure how much longer the really high points will last, most of my HCC CPU have now cleared out of pending, leaving only a couple of pages of GPU.. More of a case of increased points due to catch-up rather than that being my normal daily amount, still nice to hit the 200,000 mark though biggrin

Re: UK
Arrrgggggghhhh. Blasted second machine has fallen over, first and second looks seem to indicate that recovery is remote to very unlikely, power surge / blip. Too many bits with carbon stains. Da*m and blast, stronger words are needed but this is a polite forum. Now need Santa to be very kind.

I know it's likely a little late to say this, now, but if you have 2-3 machines in the same room, I can highly recommend getting a decent UPS - most have both surge-protection and voltage-drop protection built into them, which may help to minimise damage due to electricity-supply issues.

Mine currently protects my gaming PC and fileserver (neither of which are very power-friendly), and the monitor, and from memory cost me around the £125 mark. Given the cost of replacing both machines, it's a bargain...

The top-end ones, which really aren't cheap given all they are are a pile of batteries (with some intelligence about when to charge & discharge), can actually auto-shutdown machines cleanly when power-loss is detected, to prevent damage to disks/etc.

I'm sorry to hear the news, faulty/damaged PC's are a real pain crying

Apart from that, I hope everyone is okay and having a good morning smile I recently passed 40 Million points for the team and have only just passed dmc_1970 last night in points smile

Re: UK

With the pressure we're putting on the computers... they will fail eventually.

Mine running at 100% CPU time through the morning and night at a regular temp of 55 degree's isnt ideal :P

Do you think 55C constantly is a lot? Doesn't sound at all bad to me, and constant temperatures are much better than wildly fluctuating ones in general aren't they? My 'big' machine is similar, maybe a few degrees higher, and the laptops are mostly in the mid to high 60s. The concern I have is the GPU, which cycles from about 70 to about 40 and back up again every 7-8 minutes!

adoades on the 2nd day since resumption, crunched 0:007:15:57:21 showing why his absence was so noticeable.
In total 67 members crunched yesterday for the UK team (2nd highest daily total) bringing to 85 the number of members who've crunched in November (our best month this year) and 134 members who've crunched at some point in 2012! biggrin

Reasons to Cheerful Part 3
A plethora of PBs including 2 triples: biggrin
	adoades Runtime	7:15:57:21	Points 26,999 Results	37
isandunk Runtime 0:23:20:18 Points 6,339 Results 5
