Re: Math or Maths, that is the question!

Since no one has given a definitive answer to the original question, I will: Maths is English. Math is American (i.e. that English-like language spoken in America). wink

@ myself:
petrol and gas
- may be able to create confusion as the UK petrol is petrol while gas is and air (natural gas)
- in the USA gas is petrol and also gas
@ SekeRob:
oh and we still write Hotel because the tourists would not be able to find our Otels ;P
Still, we can find your osteria's which perhaps could be called hosteria

"What do you know?" is an English expression, this picture shot yesterday, not 150 meters from a large antique "tourist" attraction, where there were 3 weddings and a funeral on the schedule :D

Sometimes a furriner sees things a native doesn't and wonder rightly about things that the native has gotten used to.
Do you live there?

Re: Math or Maths, that is the question!

"furriner" seems to be acceptable, used since circa 1838. Funny is that above that osteria there' a dental practice. The restaurant is actually fitted in a very thick walled catacomb type of construction, much older than the outside of the building makes it appear with a beautiful garden in the back to dine outside under the umbrellones... the kitchen run by 3 mama's, the foundation of many restaurants in Italy, personally tested and having full seal of connoisseurs approval. The previous proprietors had their own fishing boat and did not serve fish on Sunday, because it would not have been fresh! Sadly they stopped (papà, not papa, retired), it being worth the ride to dine there, every day of the week but i giorni di riposo.

Suppose my sidebar and sig kind of gives away where the broader coordinates are of our regular bedstead ;-)
