Re: New stats program

The Say No to Schistosoma Project has been started.

After your first update you'll want to change this:

113>Say No to Schistosoma>

to this:

113>Say No to Schistosoma>SN2S

in ProjectsList.txt.

Re: New stats program

Thanks for your efforts with this pirogue. I haven't upgraded to 1.2c as the decimals and commas wasn't an issue for me. Or were there any other features/fixes that would make it a must have upgrade?

If I could express my hopes for the next release

1) The ability to either schedule auto updates within it, or do via a scheduled command line task

2) The ability to delete incomplete data rows, i.e. where I've not been around to be able to do an update to get the result status of a unit before it's cleared from WCG leaving it sitting in the stats permanently as pending.

3) A move away from sensible version naming to an Ubuntu style. Let's see, we're up to the third release so how about calling 1.3 something like Dazed Dormouse when it's released. tongue

Re: New stats program

The way to get rid of expired PV/Inconclusive tasks that were removed from the WCG RS pages between WCGDAWS updates is to purge them [those PV/Inconclusive] tasks but selecting whatever statuses after hitting the pruge button up top and then run another update to refetch any active PV/Inc results.

Actually a long standing bug I've never mentioned is, that the Ctrol-C to copy selected rows has never worked for me. Right click and copy through the menu does work, but there's a nasty bit about MS Office. It locks the clipboard and prevents to copy more than a few rows, else getting an "access denied to clipboard". This can take up to a minute of sandclock spinning before it pops-up. Cumbersome workaround is to unload MS Office, make the desired copy in WCGDAWS and then paste is over. MS and useless Bing have not revealed a fix, though they claim that disabling certain COM Add-ins to Excel and running it in Save mode should work, but it does not unfortunately.

#1 is on the todo list.
#2 can be done using the Purge button.
#3 the versions with .x have new features. the .x[a-z] versions are bug fixes.

I'll take a look and see if there's anything I can do.

Re: New stats program

Thanks for the info on the purge button. I've seen it, but was worried it would clear out all the units, not just a select few. I saw the export button and assumed the idea was to export the data to excel then clear out the database for the next lot to arrive with the purge button. So out of cowardice I refrained from trying it!

Everything is cumulative, so there's no need to export. Someone requested it so they could do other calculations.

The purge comes in handy when an update isn't run for a few days and there are stragglers that have rolled off of your results pages. Those won't ever change status, so I put that in to keep everything tidy. Also, most people don't care about old aborts or errors, so it helps to reduce the meaningless data.

Ctrl-C has been fixed in 1.2d. There was also a problem with changing the color scheme that has been fixed.

I tried copy/paste with both Excel and Word open and didn't have any problems. Let me know if the new version still results in the access denied error.

Re: New stats program

Hi pirogue,

Waited a few weeks using the 1.2d, but regrettable have to report that the problem persists, albeit somewhat less. Often first copying 1 line and then the desired section does work, and it continues to be only when any office app is loaded... denial to access the clipboard. When it does succeed when an office app is loaded, it can take some time before even the start bar will respond to appear or a alt-tab will work to switch application. Ctrl-C to copy not working at all btw and this being both on old and brandnew system makes it something in Windows (7?). Pasting is also very slow. To emphasize, when office is not loaded [there's some visualization virtualization involved these days, not of my choosing], the copying is instant.

A small feature request: When there is no grant yet, could the PPH be shown as computed from the claim? Now that the servers control the claim, it varies per science as to what is deemed appropriate, different every minute of the day... it's not like always for device X, claimed PPH of Y. Gives a quicklook idea where things are heading.

thx

edit: cant trust spellchecks either ;P

Re: New stats program

I have started using Piroque's program. It is a marvelous piece of work. I used to have to cut a paste stats into a spreadsheet, do some cumbersome conversions of time to get performance per machine. Now I don't anymore. Thank you for this fine piece of work.

Cheers
