I don't know why I thought of looking for these, but sure enough, out of the 27.5K workunits I've loaded so far, I've been my own wingman (almost) twice: Conclusion: We shouldn't talk about wingman, but about wingmachine in future ![]() |

At least it wasn't the same system.

It would be useful to post some WCG results at WCG :)

It would appear that different systems are better at crunching different task types. While there is not much difference between the top two or three tasks there is a big difference between the top and bottom task (20%, 29%, 21%, 37%, 16%, 27%):
2600K (2600K@4.6) Highest, DDDT2, 165.47 PPD/GHz Lowest, HPF2, 137.67 PPD/GHz 980X (980X @4.02) Highest, HCC, 159.99 PPD/GHz Lowest, HPF2, 124.37 PPD/GHz Fed-x6 (1090T@3.8) Highest, Beta, 196.96 PPD/GHz Lowest, FAAH, 162.88 PPD/GHz Fed1 (980X@4.02) Highest, CEP2, 172.24 PPD/GHz Lowest, HPF2, 125.51 PPD/GHz LR-PC (BE550@3.2) Highest, CEP2, 180.45 PPD/GHz Lowest, FAAH, 155.75 PPD/GHz upstairs (920@3.8) Highest, CEP2, 189.58 PPD/GHz Lowest, FAAH, 149.16 PPD/GHz It appears that the Intel processors tend to struggle the most with HPF2, and the AMD struggle more with FAAH. So the app is useful for crunchers with several rigs; they can crunch the projects with the most credit on each system and still get a good spread of project contribution. If you multiply the PPD/GHz by the number of cores (or threads) and then by the frequency it would give you the overall PPD that you would expect to see from the CPU. Perhaps this could be added to the app? 2600K (2600K@4.6) Highest, DDDT2, 165.47 PPD/GHz (165.47X8X4.6=6089) 980X (980X @4.02) Highest, HCC, 159.99 PPD/GHz (7718) Fed-x6 (1090T@3.8) Highest, Beta, 196.96 PPD/GHz (4490) Fed1 (980X@4.02) Highest, CEP2, 172.24 PPD/GHz (8308) LR-PC (BE550@3.2) Highest, CEP2, 180.45 PPD/GHz (1155) upstairs (920@3.8) Highest, CEP2, 189.58 PPD/GHz (5763) This could be used to put together tables of system cost per expected points per day for WCG. You would need to take account of other factors though (motherboard, RAM, HDD and of course Operating system would impact on performance). How many same type tasks complete might be a better way of measuring performance for similar systems. |

Here are some results for some other Intel and AMD machines. The screenshot was taken with WCGDAWS running under wine on Ubuntu.
----------------------------------------
I found it interesting that the AMD E-350 runs 64-bit C4CW WUS almost twice as fast as the Atom D525 even when I turn off hyperthreading on the Atom. This AMD chip *really* cashes in on 64-bit processing. ![]() ![]() |

Hi piroque,
----------------------------------------Nice, velly nice ploglam. Bug: Ever since the 1.0 and still in 1.01b, the project column on W7-32 is blank. The drop down filter list is blank too, no project names (the short ones I hope), but it does show the boxes to pick, so can filter, trial and error. The column is not blank on my Linux box when run through Wine. Feature Request: In addition to averages also a totals line at bottom. If one then filters on a date and project, one can see at one glance how much was done for a particular period or day, or running total for current day. Add a pending validation filter to that and you know how much is in jail, to illustrate what can be done with the feature. TIA -- SekeRob edit: probably I missed it, but can't see if a filter is applied. A Clear Filters button would certainly resolve a quick way to see all again. Else a stats junkies nirvana. Feature Request: In addition to averages also a totals line at bottom ..... I second that, but did not dare to ask, because you should not look a given horse in his mouth. edit: probably I missed it, but can't see if a filter is applied. A Clear Filters button would certainly resolve a quick way to see all again. Else a stats junkies nirvana. Sek, I'm running WCGDAWS on Vista64 and I see blue triangles for the column names filtered. On the bottom line, I see the Filter in text. Left from that I can skip all filtering in 1 action and on the right, I have the opportunity to select a filter out of a list of recent used ones. Perhaps only a problem on your Win7? |

You're absolutely right... after all, colour deaf I suppose, the black triangle changing to blue, and the filter applied at bottom thoroughly overlooked, to include the one time clear X button, but had seen the Customize and now also see a filter history button for easy reuse... a full, utter and unreserved retraction
---------------------------------------- Never to shy to look in a horse's mouth, here, to see if it can be fitted with a gold tooth ;>) --//-- [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at May 10, 2011 11:15:20 AM] |

...., but had seen the Customize... With the Customize ... button you can make and save your own filters, such like e.g.: (Due / Returned >= 02-05-2011) and (Due / Returned < 03-05-2011) to select all tasks returned on the 2nd of May.
