A motorcycle patrolman was rushed to the hospital with an inflamed appendix. The doctors operated and advised him that all was well.
However, the patrolman kept feeling something pulling at the hairs on his chest. Worried that it might be a second surgery the doctors hadn't told him about, he finally got enough energy to pull his hospital gown down enough so he could look at what was making him so uncomfortable. Taped firmly across his hairy chest were three wide strips of adhesive tape, the kind that doesn't come off easily. Written in large black letters was the sentence. "Get well soon ... from the nurse you gave a ticket to last week." |

Were are you Keithhenry, Siberia? Just teasing but having lived in Massacheusetts for five years I understand how things can be. Glad to see parmesan is coming home soon though that will push me down the ranks. Great to see all the crunchers big and small contributing. I would love to see some of them write on our forum page from time to time. It is after all MOT, which is a team. See DKT, Finnman, David Autumns and xroule as well as Brown Chris crunching vigorously! Marys Dubbie is getting back to normal and nicemedtexmd is crunching away. Way to go! Yea, the folks in Mass. are a lot better prepared for winter weather like this. The norm here for any kind of frozen precipitation is freezing rain or sleet. We usually don't get the conditions right to get snow, much less seven inches. Good thing, in a way, about this one was that it was bad enough that folks stayed in. The norm is for there to be three to six cars on their sides in the ditch alongside the road out to the main highway. Still, I did see a couple of drivers who insisted on riding their brakes down the big hills around here. You just wait at the top for them to make it down or get in the ditch and then go. Also, when we do get some sort of wintry weather like this, it usually melts off within 24-48 hours. We stayed cloudy and cold this time. |

All this talk of snow and ice reminds me it's been exactly 35 years now since we had any snow that stuck to the ground below about 1000 feet elevation, even though it does get cold enough almost every year. Once in a while, we'll have a few flakes make it to ground level - and then melt right away. There hasn't been a "snow day" here since the 1940s and I don't think there's been a white Christmas in recorded history.
Stay warm everyone. - D |
