[SOLVED] Not getting CEP WU in Windows but getting in GNU/Linux

Hi all,
I don't know for what reason Windows hasn't downloaded the CEP binary and things even though I have explicitly chosen it in Windows but the same project works fine in GNU/Linux. Any pointers why it may be so ?

shirish,

If you are still experiencing the problem, can you post the messages log from the BOINC manager?

Re: Not getting CEP WU in Windows but getting in GNU/Linux

seippel,
I am still facing problems. I would post the messages log but there doesn't seem to be any issues as other projects come without an issue.

Perhaps there's some option or preference which I put up in the Windows run of BOINC which I'm unaware of.

I tried one thing though. I asked it to get work for 3 days, and guess what for the first time 'Computing for Clean Water' CwcW binary and the WU came. Now happily crunching that.

It would be nice if somebody can help me locate the darn* thing. I will put up the whole messages.log as an attachment in a little while.

hmm.... doesn't seem to be a way to attach files, so putting the whole thing here :-

Are both machines running under the same device profile?

Re: Not getting CEP WU in Windows but getting in GNU/Linux

Its the same machine, dual-boot and both are running the same default profile. There may be some differences in the options and preferences and the cc_config.xml file but nothing I see or know of which should stop CEP2 from accessing the windows side of things.

Looking forward to investigate or know what could be the issue ?

Re: Not getting CEP WU in Windows but getting in GNU/Linux

Even though it's the same physical machine, I'm fairly certain it won't show up as the same machine in the device list.

If you could force an update and copy/paste the log messages from that update, it may help figure out what's going on.

Here you are right.

deb Default 12/7/10
enterprise Default 11/9/10

This is how they look at http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/ms/device/viewDevices.do

As can be seen, the first tone is Debian, while the second one is of Windows. The same machine being shown as two devices sharing the same profile called Default.

If you could force an update and copy/paste the log messages from that update, it may help figure out what's going on.

Do not get what you mean here though. Force update where/what ? In BOINC or what? I did do an update and do I have some WU's but still this is what it says.

29/12/2010 10:50:07 (to change preferences, visit the web site of an attached project, or select Preferences in the Manager)

I also updated my device profile

https://secure.worldcommunitygrid.org/ms/devi...iguration.do?name=Default

and made

Number of workunits per host for
The Clean Energy Project - Phase 2? - 2

Changed from the default 1 to 2. In the hopes of today or tomorrow when my these WorkUnits are completed, I would get a CEP2 WU.

If its somewhere else you are saying, please be explicit so I can do what is needed to be provided.

29/12/2010 10:50:07 Reading preferences override file

Don't know if you tried this yet:

Open the BOINC Manager->(Advanced view)->Advanced->Preferences
Click the Clear button.
Close the preferences window.
Click Projects tab, then click Update button.

Any CEP2 tasks or messages then?
