Hi everybody,
I want to use my GPU for the projects, but I dont know how I can switch on to use GPU. In the software, in activity I clicked on "Use GPU always" but I dont see that my GPU is in LOAD. 10X for the helpers. ![]() |

Hi,
----------------------------------------world community grid has no GPU capable projects. If you want to contribute to a medical project with your GPU go to www.gpugrid.net AMD Ryzen 5 1600AF 6C/12T 3.2 GHz - 85W AMD Ryzen 5 2500U 4C/8T 2.0 GHz - 28W AMD Ryzen 7 7730U 8C/16T 3.0 GHz |

OK, 10X for the answer.
By the way, it's only for NVIDIA cards? I have an ATI card. |

Hello Smi1ey,
No problem. Some GPU projects use both Nvidia and AMD, others use one or the other. All you have to do is look at the requirements for each GPU project. Lawrence |

----------------------------------------and http://milkyway.cs.rpi.edu/milkyway/index.php support ATI/AMD graphic cards. EDIT:You will need to install the OpenCL Driver from the AMD site to crunch on a ATI/AMD card. [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Dec 25, 2010 5:00:57 PM] |

Prime Grid (primegrid.com) also has an application for ATI cards. Here's a wiki page about BOINC GPU projects.

You probably want to post this in the forum of the project you are trying to run.

In my very humble opinion, the whole scheme of things with GPU is just a mess.
----------------------------------------First, this topic belongs at BOINC, not here. Fortunately, there are knowledgeable and considerate people tending this forum who will help. Beyond that, the whole GPU thing is just too complex. With CPU, it is just yes or nor, and of course mostly yes. I guess maybe an original Pentium or 386 is a no, but I crunched with an ATOM 270 for a while, along with my Core 2 Duo machines and my i5 and i7 models. My colleague still crunches I believe with a PentiumIV, along with his more modern machines. GPU should not be brand dependent. If I buy a computer, I am not going to pick a video card based on one or two BOINC projects. Crunching is just one of my activities. Clearly, for those who build machines for the specific purpose of crunching, picking a card for crunching with GPU is paramount. GPU would probably take off if it were just a yes/no decision and any reasonably aged graphics processor from any manufacturer would work. Just think of the many many people and machines that would let in, and how much faster there would be results. Then, the only negative would be heat. |
