Sekerob, I don't think the betas had any effect on the points for the regular linux WUs or even the beta linux WU. The reason for the reduce pts on linux is really due to 1 person, Mr Kermit. Even before the betas were released, the pts for c4cw has been going down the drain. Mr Kermit has been crunching lots and lots of c4cw WUs and his machine are very, very efficient.
----------------------------------------Now, I maybe wrong that Mr Kermit is the caused, but it is still true that the pts for c4cw has been going down before the betas were release. Used to get about 50 pts per Linux WU, now it is not even 40. |

anhhai, nothing to do with Mr.Kermit. Even through the short series of beta we see the impact of credit on Windows and Linux dropping. The same will happen in production. If you look at my previous post you see 72-73 credit for Windows.... right before this beta test which is the very same I got on Windows at the beginning of target02, months ago.
----------------------------------------Opposed to other sciences, the C4CW was benchmarked to give X credit for 1 mean C4CW work unit of a few thousand beta tasks, before the project was launched. If then a C4CW task is run under Windows and it takes 2 units of time on that platform, but only 1.5 on Linux, the Linux IDENTICAL task got the rato credit... the 48-50 v 72-73... on all my devices. There's more discrepancies that is way beyond this thread or I am prepared to talk about here, such as the ZR credit versus same ZR task but in quorum 2, passing through the inconclusive cycle. Been down the lane too many times... on AND offline discussed for years... expectation nul, hope sunk in shoes. --//--

After my Inconclusive, my wingman had this error: Was that WU sent out again for someone else to run? Looks like all of my inconclusives except 1 have validated. It's still waiting for a wingman report.

Mr. Kermit has really helped WCG and even if his work some how effected the points, which according to Sekerob it does not, I would rather have his contribution and lose points then to not have his contributions.

I would rather have his contribution too. I was only pointing it out to help isolate the cause. I agree that the 5000 WUs had an affect on our pts, but I personally saw the pts for linux WUs of c4cw go downhill before the betas were release. Last week we were getting about 50 per WU, yesterday morning before the beta release, we were getting 43. Hours after the beta release we were getting less then 40. Don't know what we are getting now. |
