Re: C4CW beta test 12/13/2010

If cut exactly same size, or just a rerun of tasks previously run under 6.13, then taking first 45 minutes, we're looking at ~372 minutes for old versus 6.14 doing ~212 minutes. That would work out to be doing 1.75 tasks in the time it took to complete one with the current production app.

These are actually production work units being used in beta as well. So they are cut the same, no difference between production work units and these betas.

It looks like at 4GHz, they'll take around 2.75hrs on windows and around 3.5hrs on linux, both 64 bit.

Huh? On my E5400 duo Win7/64 @ 3.1 GHz, both betas are at 13% after 15 minutes. So they should be finished after 2 hours, a massive improvement. smile

Nice jobs tech's. applause Accoriding to BoincTasks my BETA's are all running at 99%+ CPU and the CPU time is just a few ticks less than the clock time. Much improved I would say.

Was there anything at all changed to the Linux compile of the app? Seeing not a bit of differences... same same ~2:41 +/- the odd minute they've consistently run with 6.13. This after 1:05 hours crunching.

Not sure what Dataman experienced in past with clean water, but with 6.13 rarely saw anything below 99.5% efficiency on a left alone machine, concurrent with CEP2 at that :D

I based my numbers on the BoincTasks "Time Left" column, not % done. I also run GPU tasks, so there's a little overhead there.

The ETAs are down to around 2.25 on windows and 2.75 on linux. The old version was taking right at 3.1 hrs, so this version is definitely an improvement.

What's CEP2 laughing biggrin laughing

tongue

My CPU improvement is more than likely mostly because my GPU's are down ATM (forgot about that) but still very good for me.

66% complete
Clock time: 1:24:29
CPU time: 1:24:21

Nice. coffee

Re: C4CW beta test 12/13/2010

Linux was not changed. It is included in the beta to help get overall percentages for the project.

Windows is the only operating system updated.
