Hi MARIO3, Ver 6.10.58 is the newer and current WCG version. For Windows you can download the installation file from the "DOWNLOAD" tab. The way I usually do an upgrade is to set to manager to "No New Tasks", wait until all Work Units have completed, click the Manager Projects Tab Update button so the completed tasks are reported. I then close the manager, using the "Exit" selection on the File manu (Advanced View). Then I install the new version without uninstalling the previous one.
----------------------------------------Waiting for all tasks to complete is not a requirement, just my personal preference. Good luck! Bill P Edit: corrected version typo

What happen if I unnistall my version and then install the new version? no important data lost? nothing happen? Nothing should be lost. It doesn't matter if you uninstall beforehand, or let's the BOINC-client silently uninstall older client as part of the upgrade. ![]() "I make so many mistakes. What happen if I unnistall my version and then install the new version? no important data lost? nothing happen? Hi MAURO3, I saw that you are new in the forums, so welcome ! I will suggest you left the new BOINC release downloaded from WCG website, do it job change in silent... (like Ingleside recommended above). It won't affect nothing and you will have the security of a smooth new installation getting the right files from the old version installed, before erasing the old one from your machine... saving yours previous works in place (and all tasks too), and all of that automatically ! By the way, is strongly recommended that if you will use the new BOINC release available, you need edit the configurations of yours DEVICE PROFILES (work, default, school, and home) before do it. There are some new configurations fields included in the last weeks by WCG that matters a lot, like in the project specific settings where you can bypass without restrictions or not the projects minimum requeriments like there is in CEP2 for instance, or in the the Network Usage settings where you can determine the maximum quantity of data MB results transfered to WCG servers each day, or in the Processor Usage settings where you can now setting the percentage of processor usage, and block it if the percentage reach some limit prior selected by you. And so on... If you don't do it, you can have low usage of yours machines dedicated to WCG projects, once the WCG defaults starting this settings with much less than the maximum capacities available, so yours preferences and experiences will be betther in this choices (and be aware that for the most of settings available, if you use ZERO, it means that there aren't restrictions or limits for that setting). Hope that it help you. Good luck in yours choices ! ![]()

A catch made a million times before ;>) Visit the Berkeley forums for past discussions on why it is not likely to happen anytime soon and they've not even mentioned all the reason that I can see. Maybe with 6.12 [very alpha IMMHO] the message will show in usual Berkeley PE style through the new notices pop-up with an link address, which WCG overrides in their Windows package when clean installed, for their many partner's reasons e.g.

The suggestion is a good catch, despite of any opinion about it, and need be incentivated each time more in WCG, like many others importants and relevants ideas to facilitate crunchers usage. Just it. Have a nice day !
