Now that some of the other WCG projects have ended we seem to be gaining some of the lost ground in terms of harvested computing time. Excellent! Keep our servers busy, everybody!

Yay, the Scharber modeling also worked out! Now we move on to hook up CEPDB with the overall data statistics module. This may be a bit more tricky because it requires performance optimization of nested hierarchy queries. Let’s see how we get this to scale up with the size of data we are dealing with.

The other day we had a very productive phone conference with our friends at Wolfram Alpha who will also make use of the CEP data using natural language processing. Exciting things to come on this end as well. The gist is that the CEP data will be available to the public on different platforms using different mining and query technology. We are all very excited about this.

We had a very productive phone conference with Prof. Zhenan Bao and her team at Stanford yesterday. These guys are the experimentalists who use our predictions as a guide for their work in the lab, and they give us great questions to consider theoretically.

I realize this very basic theoretical long term research, but are there any glimmers of the fruits of their (and your) labors ? Cheers

Well, we already had a big success from one of our small scale proof-of-principle studies last year which led to the 2nd best organic hole-conductor known to man. The Bao Group has recently also picked up one of the structures from our low-bandgap list and we are preparing a more in-depth study right now.

I will not ask if there are any plans to reduce resource usage of the wu's (oh, I just did ).I hope no one on the project plans to fly solar-panel kites next week. "Sandy" appears to have a big chip on her shoulder so hunker down and stay safe. ![]() ![]() |

Hmm, will we have to be worried? The weather in Cambridge still looks beautiful and we hope it stays that way.
