Rest in peace, Dave. WCG won't be the same without you, but I know you'll be crunching with us in spirit.

My mate Dave ![]() ![]() He hated that War and could tell you to the day how many had passed since his safe return. Many a beautiful Mp3 crossed the pond between us. He was horrified when I told him what had happened to Charlotte Church in her "Crazy Chick" days!! Me, Lawrence and Dave B chased around this forum helping out in the early days, that's how we became friends. A beautiful person to know Today is now a sad day Dave A ![]() [Edit 1 times, last edit by David Autumns at Oct 31, 2010 9:03:48 AM] |

Dave became a CA in February of 2005. I'm sorry to see him go and will miss him. Dave was a good man and a fellow VN veteran.
In 2006 he reported major health issues including leg amputations. Through this he never lost his sense of humor. I recall asking him about his amputation and he responded: "At least they are scheduling a below the knee amputation. It could have been much worse -- above the shoulders would have been a bit more difficult to take -- LOL.". During this time he wanted to resign as a CA, citing lack of contribution. We refused to accept his resignation and we think he appreciated that. No matter what day of the week or hour of the day..... if something went wrong with World Community Grid such as unavailability or stats not updating properly, we could count on an email and/or cell phone call from Dave to let us know. Dave had lots of health problems and suffered a lot. But he took it in stride and never seemed to complain. Here's what he told me once when I asked him if he needed help: "Yeah, not the best days of my life, but there is still a lot to enjoy out there (among which are all the friends I've made through the WCG). Between the VA and my sons, I'm pretty well taken care of.". We will miss him. |

A husband, a father, a Grandfather, a Soldier, a human being.
Now at peace and healed. God Bless you Dave. May your family and friends not grieve for a life lost, but celebrate for a battle won. John Morley |

My condolences.
Dave was a really nice, humble and modest guy, with a great sense of humour. He knew how to connect with people and really made an effort to do so, as I found out for myself outside of WCG. Rest in peace Dave. |
