There is no hurry to release junk as the flak created would be really bad, they will not release it until it is ready and currently it is not ready. Which for me is a good thing, I like watching my Beta badge stats go up for a change! Yes, but i hope that when they will release the gpu "stable" client, there will be enough work... IMHO, there will be medical and humanitarian research work aplenty for all for some considerable time. Don't worry.... Just w8ing for HCC GPU tasks and processing POEM in the meantime. I will share resources with HCC GPU and POEM tasks when ready and will continue with C4CW, CEP 2, GFAM, Leishmaniasis, HPF 2, SN2S, Sustainable Water for 15 days each month, running 12/7 and all weekend because of electricity costs. ![]() ![]() crunching, crunching, crunching. Well, I've delayed buying a new video card as there aren't any projects with GPU tasks, and so far I've saved about $50 on the ATI 7970 I had been intending to buy.
So I guess waiting hasn't been a bad thing, though the sooner we get critical data needed for cancer research, the better, in my books. |

I can pull 480,000 PPD with my 4.3 TFLOP 7950 at 55% utilization, would be nice if I could get 100% usage on the project for a near 1,000,000 PPD though. |

A friend in Germany has written procedures for me to process multiple POEM@HOME tasks on my GPUs. I will test the procedures next week and post these here ASAP. At present I complete roughly two tasks or 5,800 points/h of run time, or about 625,000 points/wk for POEM. As at 17:00 UTC on 16 June, I have received 1,259,000 points from POEM and 348,000 points from WCG... ![]() ![]() crunching, crunching, crunching. I have also written up procedures for proper optimization of the application for the rest of my team. http://www.amdusers.com/forum/showthread.php?...ncompassing-Guide-to-POEM

FYI from the Developer Alpha mailing list, in the hearsay department... in case you've got an ATI:
There is this message thread going over at Einstein regarding some issues running OpenCL apps on ATI cards using BOINC 7.0.28 under WinXP. They claim the problems can be cured by going back to 7.0.27. As I don't have an ATI card I can't help with this one but thought I might bring it to the developers attention. The message thread can be found http://einstein.phys.uwm.edu/forum_thread.php?id=9502 cheers, For when there is the next HCC Beta test [in an unknown future] --//-- |
