Re: New Project Setting

I uploaded this morning. 16 of these wu's. Took around 5 hrs to upload. Don't think I want more than 4 per machine.

Re: New Project Setting

Limit your upload speed in the local prefs to 84KB and you'll be surprised to see that net it will go much faster. From here it takes 4 to 5 minutes per *_4* result file which are somewhere in the range of 23-24MB for the present work units.

Re: New Project Setting

Sek, it's working better but still hogs the router when trying to access the net with another computer. I notice boinc likes to upload 2 wu's at a time when 2 or more are pending. Anyway to stop this and force boinc to upload 1 at a time? Can the upload speed be lowered anymore from 84 or is that a bad idea?

set this in your cc_config.xml

<max_file_xfers_per_project>1</max_file_xfers_per_project>

so the contents of cc_config.xml look like this:
<cc_config>
<options>
<max_file_xfers_per_project>1</max_file_xfers_per_project>
</options>
</cc_config>

Re: New Project Setting

Thanks. Will give this a shot. If this will do 1 at a time, then I can let it upload max speed for shorter time. Tnks

Re: New Project Setting

I made the change on my ubuntu cruncher. Went to my win7 box to do the same but don't see a cc_config.xml file. Can I add this under win7?

yes you can create that file if it doesn't exist on your win7

Re: New Project Setting

I did the change on both ubuntu and win7 box. Did not work. Still uploading 2 at a time. I did shut down boinc when I did the change so it should have took when firing it up. With ubuntu, this line is with another for ubuntu 64 to be recognized. I put it after.
Had to limit my uploads on the 8 core running this project to midnight to 7 am. Can't get on the net with another pc while this is uploading. Will see if that works. Otherwise will limit to one at a time.
