Re: New Project Setting

No doubt though, that when it is being crunched by all platforms, you and your dedicated team will be swiftly moving on to the next new project...

We have worked so hard on this none of us have taken any vacation this year. As a result we will all be taking all of US Thanksgiving through New Years off.... We hope the grid manages to operate on its own without intervention. wink biggrin

Yeah, right!! wink wink

If you do that, make sure you leave the keys to the workplace under the door mat. biggrin

Re: New Project Setting

We have implemented a new project setting for this project and new default behavior.

The new default behavior is that only one workunit can be in progress on a computer at a time. We are doing this because this project has high disk use that has been to shown to cause an impact on a users activities if more than one workunit are running at a time.

The new project setting is located at the bottom of the Profiles page located at http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/ms/device/viewProfiles.do

It will allow you to indicate that you want want to not be limited by either the bandwidth setting or by the workunit limit. In other words, it will allow the project to run on computer like our other projects.

It reads:

Project Specific Settings
Run The Clean Energy Project - Phase 2 without restrictions? Yes/No
The Clean Energy Project - Phase 2 is limited on how many workunits a computer can have downloaded at a time and what minimum bandwidth the computer must have in order to receive any workunits. This setting will override those limits.

Still getting the messages after saying Yes to that question.....

11/3/2010 11:19:55 PM World Community Grid Message from server: Beta - The Clean Energy Project - Phase 2 requires 128.00 kbps download bandwidth. Your computer has been measured at 33.09 kbps.
11/3/2010 11:19:55 PM World Community Grid Message from server: The Clean Energy Project - Phase 2 is not available for your type of computer.
11/3/2010 11:19:55 PM World Community Grid Message from server: No work available for the applications you have selected. Please check your settings on the website.

Re: New Project Setting

That Setting is for CEP-2 ONLY, NOT Beta. Beta for any project, is a seperate animal, at this time testing CEP-2 win version, but NOT counted as CEP-2 production.

Beta work units are normally for testing pre-production settings and configurations and code. The goal is to verify that these WU function as intended in a production enviorment prior to actual release. Hopefully they work as intended, if not, back to the workbench.

Users changing/overriding the test settings would make the test worthless.

nice plan.. is that so when they call you in to work they have to pay you overtime from thanksgiving through New Years. tongue

you know the servers wont handle you guys gone that long. shame on you

if i could make a sugestion on the Cep-2 setting... can you add more options to it i would like to see

No restrictions
yes restrict bandwith
yes restrict work unit limit
yes restrict both.

right now its an all or nothing... for myself i wouldnt mind not haveing a bandwith limit but i want to restrict the work unit limit cause some of my computers with dual processor had problems running both of them.

good luck and thanks for the updates.

Re: New Project Setting

How is bandwidth detected/defined? I have WAY more bandwidth than BOINC message tab is saying I do.
