More than 200 crunchers online and counting to view knreed's excellent thread. By the end of the day there will be maybe 1000. And by tomorrow who knows.
----------------------------------------It is an excellent thread as we have online the recovery status, that by the way is slow so that success can last. And what happens next. If there is another trouble, panic and fear may grab the WCG community. I can feel tension and desperation among all crunchers with less than one day cache. And with each device that stops crunching its mouth wide open waiting for WU that do not come. Like a fish out of the water the devices may die by lack of stuff that keeps them alive. The overheated, overclocked processors could crack by the sudden cooling. P.S. knreed many thanks for all your efforts and dedication to solve this issue. We are all behind you to support you in this difficult moment. WCG will prevail !!!! Hip Hip Hip Hurrah!!!!! ![]() ![]() |

From knreed's figures, I worked out that it should be up hopefully by 21:00 GMT (approx 7 hours time)
----------------------------------------Knreed - Is this right, or am I missing a stage of recovery? Patrick ![]() [Edit 1 times, last edit by pcwr at Oct 14, 2010 1:10:22 PM] |

If things proceed as we are expecting, which is a dicey statement since things haven't proceed as expected so far, then the upload copies should complete in about 2 hours and we think that we can allow uploads to resume at that point.
The download copies are running slower. Based on the current transfer rate we expect everything to finish in around four hours, but once the uploads stop copying the transfer rate will drop and that will push out the time to completion. As a result, I think your 7 hours estimate is reasonable at this time. |

I'm new around here, so I thought let's turn it on and make a little difference in the world haha. Guess I'll have to wait a few more hours for that.
I guess it will be working pretty soon again? I still get the message: "Message from server: Project is temporarily shut down for maintenance " right now, but I suppose that's not out of the ordinary at the moment? |

Nope it's not,
----------------------------------------though it's very out of the ordinary for WCG. They have a High Uptime percentage. Welcome to WCG 'crunching' for humanity! ![]() |

Looks like I finished in time.
----------------------------------------All systems are now updated and cleaned. PS: Don't use 80 psi to blow out your systems in the house. Unless the other half is gone and you've enough time to clean the mess. ![]() ![]() |
