Under the advanced view >Advanced tab there should be an "attach to project " option.
That's the one you want. |

As I said, "Attach to project" is grayed-out.

Plz find the cc_config.xml file (should be in the boinc data directory or the boinc program directory) and open it with notepad. Find the line
----------------------------------------<disallow_attach>1</disallow_attach> change 1 to 0 (zero). Save file making sure the suffix is not changed to txt. The name must remain cc_config.xml. Restart client. You may have to boot to if client was installed as service. Then the graying should have gone. After, forget I ever told you how to do this (you're the second one this week with this problem).

PS, the data_directory could be hidden. The path is printed in the start up section of BOINC message log. Open file explorer and just type the address in.

I tried disabling my firewall and stopping/restarting BOINC. "Attach to project" remained grayed-out.

Ah, thanks. This solved the problem.
(Why do they make it a secret? I wasted considerable personal time -- both mine and others who replied to this thread -- solving this problem.) |

Had you read the link toss provided, you'd have solved it right at the beginning of this thread. That one was the hard way, I gave you the more elegant shorter route.
----------------------------------------Please go to the OP post and edit [RESOLVED] into the title like I did. Then we know the problem ticket is closed. Happy Crunching.

I did read the link that toss provided, I followed the instructions, and things got much worse. That's when I got to the grayed-out "Attach to project". So I suggest that there is something wrong with those instructions.

True, if not everyone can follow the instructions all the way to the end, then there might be something wrong with the write-up. They worked for ifd001, but having identified an easier quicker method, you were having the benefit of gained knowledge from recent experience.
----------------------------------------Happy Crunching and thanks for marking the header title as [RESOLVED]. Now we can let it go and put the short track in the Start Here FAQs (that few read).
