I got email about "Exciting News ..." but also saying that "Your last result was returned on July 01, 2009." So I took a look at My Grid/My Statistics page, and I find under "Statistics by Project" that "Statistics Last Updated: 9/24/10 12:05:43 ". But under Additional Statistics/Miscellaneous, I see " Last Result Returned (UTC) 7/1/09 01:03:45 [10,818+ hour(s) ago]". How come the discrepancy?
----------------------------------------In that same "Miscellaneous" area, I see " Device Installations 4", but when I click on the "Device Installations" hyperlink, I get to a page that lists no devices at all. I got the same news letter addressed to onepelican
Apparently my last result was on July 10 2008. But I did not join WCG until 09/08/08 as per WCG, in July 2008 was crunching for Rosetta at home. |

User "mlinehan" hasn't returned results since 7/1/09.
The message "Statistics Last Updated: 9/24/10 12:05:43" applies to all the statistics, not just yours. If you just reinstalled BOINC you have to wait until at least one new result is validated and stats are updated. |

The other thread referenced by toss did help. But I ended up with no projects and no account. I tried doing "Tools/Attach to Account Manager" but it wants an "Account Manager URL" -- and I can't find anything about that anywhere on the WCG site.
I tried to resolve this problem by uninstalling and then reinstalling BOINC, but that didn't solve it. So what is the WCG "Account Manager URL"? |

Use http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org to attach to World Community Grid via BOINC. If you look at the FAQ Index at http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread_thread,21501 you will find Account Management Systems (BAM/GR) Rev Sep 10, 2009 which will tell you that only part of BAM is implemented on WCG. Instead, look at Install, Repair & Re-install client topics:which discuss installation in detail. Lawrence |

This doesn't help much.
Here's my situation: on the Advanced View/Projects tab, I see no projects listed and most of the buttons are greyed-out. If I look at the Messages tab, I see a message that says "This computer is not attached to any projects." So my problem is to get my computer attached to some projects. Looking at the various menu commands, the only one that seems meaningful is "Tools/Attach to account manager". ("Tools/Attach to project" is greyed-out.) So when I do "Tools/Attach to account manager...", I am asked for the "Account Manager URL:". I enter "http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org" and am then prompted for my userid/password. After a short wait, I get an error message: "An error has occurred, check messages for details." The Messages tab shows these two new messages: Contacting account manager at http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org Account manager error: file not found I'm assuming that it is not found on the server listed because the URL is wrong. That's why I'm asking for the account manager URL. But I suppose that the file that is not found is on my local computer. (Isn't it great to have clear error message!) So I'm stuck. ![]() |

You should have two options:
----------------------------------------1) Attach to project. 2) Attach to account manager. Use number 1, attach to project. Then you should find a list of projects and you just select World Community Grid. EDIT: I just saw that you said that the option to attach to project is grayed out. In this case I don't know what to do, it's very strange. Maybe you have a firewall/antivirus blocking BOINC? [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Sep 26, 2010 4:09:07 AM] |
