To make a donation is it via PayPal on the WCG Sig Ranking Page?

To make a donation is it via PayPal on the WCG Sig Ranking Page?

Just follow the link at SNURKs signature "Signature Ranking". On top of the page you see a PayPal-Button you can use.

Re: I made a new forum signature.

Hi Snurk and wishing you a Merry New Year too. Your badge is my all-time favorite and I want to thank-you (again) for providing this for the WCG Community. hugs

Looking at the requirement for achieving "Guru" level, I have an observation to share.

Having read through several previous discussions of this topic, it would appear the most likely people to achieve "Guru" are those that have been Crunching at WCG since inception and at least realized a badge from 22 of the 24 Projects (the 90% science and beta badges requirement currently in place).

I did some analysis of this and also included the average Projects per year that have been released since 2004. That average is 2.2 projects per year across the past (11) years through 2014. Carrying it a little further, I did a forecast of how long it would take to achieve "Guru" level given a person (like myself) that has 15 badges. It would take 29 years (or until the year 2043) to achieve "Guru". That is because of the additive effect of every time a project is added, it also factors into the 90% calculation because the total Projects count (since inception) are used. Taking 29 years to reach "Guru" could certainly be considered an act of dedication, but it will be too long for me. I'll be dead of old age by 2043. shock

Even if the factor for Badges completed across all projects was (80%) versus the current (90%) setting, it would still take me another 10 years to achieve "Guru". I would never advocate that "Guru" should be easy to attain, but at the current calculations, it seems pretty unattainable. Just wanted to share these observations with you as "food for thought".
