Re: Cross ID

Hi,

Finding it: My Grid > My Profile

Nothing you have to do. If the client is actively working on WCG and Seti, the CPID will automatically align to the oldest one created, long as the email address is exactly the same, ideally lower case.

Re: Cross ID

Sek, there seems to be an issue with v6.10.56/58 of the client. I updated one PC from 6.6.something to 6.10.58 and I was assigned a new ID for WCG on that host. On Boincstats I can see that all my WCG credit from that host got "transfered" to a new one.

Hoping to restore the situation I restarted QMC@home on that host. Well, credit from that project got transfered to the new host the same way it happened with WCG.

Now I have the old host ID with credit from Einstein, Rosetta and SETI, and the new host with the rest (WCG and QMC).

I posted something about this in boincstats forum and at least somebody else has this same issue.

Re: Cross ID

A host CPID is not same as account CPID, but yes think to have read something to that effect and it puzzling.

In principal attaching does not do anything to the Account CPID (it cannot as WCG uses membername/password and not email address password. The CPID is computed from the email address and by guesstimation is all active hosts will align again after a few days, long as those projects attached to the different clients have at least 1 common active project.

Did you check the email address has not changed in My Grid My Profile? At some point in time I tried changing it, got a new CPID, changed the old address back in and with that the old CPID popped up suggesting it's permanently locked at a project to a unique email address.

Note that when a project communicate first time from a new host, they'll grab the CPID from whoever connected first, but think that again, long as the email address is same it will converge.

For now, can't confirm as I've been flip flopping in dual boot and been test upgrading every other point release and all stay same with other hosts not budging, things nicely continuing to roll up at BOINCStats, with a dozen or so projects attached, active, suspended and retired.

Re: Cross ID

PS, if you had a new Host ID assigned by WCG, the host specific credit do not transfer, but the overall account credit will. Just wonder what could have gone wrong during upgrading. Did you loose the old data_dir as upgrading should normally be transparent allowing continuation where you were (oops... off topic).

Re: Cross ID

Indeed, I'm talking about a problem with the host ID, not my CPID, that is fine.

This machine has been crunching since 2005 (the host id in boincstats is 48172) for the 5 projects I mentioned earlier, but in the last 1-2 years it has been 100% committed to WCG as the rest of my CPUs. The BOINC client has been updated many many times in that machine without problems. But after the 6.10.58 upgrade on Aug 16th a new host (id=8359988) appeared on my host list in boincstats. The old one has a big negative number in historic credit. The problem is not that important, it's just annoying me.

I thought that the OP might have been referring to this situation.

Re: Cross ID

Did you switch from a 32 bit to a 64 bit client? A few posts are on our forums explaining that the migration then is not working as expected. Negative credit I've seen on my own BOINCstats account, but it definitely was the account CPID that got messed up.

Maybe madmac was talking about Host CPID?... hover on a host name when in device manager. In my Browser than for an old device appears in the status bar...

Re: Cross ID

As to this line, snip:
how do I add this machine to here etc

madmac, were you asking how to add that (new) machine to WCG? In Tools or Advanced menu go to the attach to project option, then select Wrold Community Grid from the list or enter www.worldcommunitygrid.org into the url field and do next.

Re: Cross ID

Boinc 32-bit (that PC has WinXP 32-bit so no chance on installing the 64-bit version).

The deviceId on Device Manager for my machine is 139329, obviously it has nothing to do with the id on boincstats. It's my oldest BOINC-PC in WCG (registered on 3/21/07). I only have an older PC and it was a UD Agent device.

Re: Cross ID

Just to show what happened to my hosts stats (the old/original host) in boincstats after two events:

1) Installed BOINC v6.10.58. My WCG credit for that host is gone (to a new host).

2) Restarted QMC@home with a couple of WUs. My QMC credit for that host is gone (also to the new host).
